EVs now make up 14% of the market through Aug, down from over 15% in Aug 2023, disrupting automakers' plans to move away from combustion engines. This decline follows a sales spike last year, driven by people rushing to buy EVs before the govt ended incentives for electric company cars. China will export a stunning 6 million cars to more than one hundred countries this year, cementing its position as the world’s No. 1 exporter.
The average price of those made-in-China cars: $19,000. That’s less than half the average price of a new car in America and Europe.
