You’d have to be an exceptionally bitter hater not to acknowledge Marco Rubio’s communication skills.

Following his iconic speech at the Acropolis — a moment that may well earn a place in the history of American diplomacy — Rubio is getting down to specifics, turning a technical feature of Starlink, maliciously criticized by some, into an exceptionally subtle diplomatic argument.

The strategic dimension of Starlink, particularly the system operated by the U.S. government, should come as no surprise to anyone. What’s more, pretending otherwise is downright embarrassing.

How hypocritical can you be to pretend you don’t understand that something American you criticize is something you use every day and that has become part of your life?

Want another example? GPS is a global utility owned and operated by the U.S. government. Without GPS, more than half the planet would be thrown back into the Stone Age.

And aren’t some people unhappy with its accuracy, too? Unfortunately, that’s a reality we have to acknowledge.

Who could replace GPS within a month? A year? Five years?

Because in the age of superintelligent AI, it’s becoming increasingly difficult — almost impossible — to imagine navigating the world with paper maps spread across a car dashboard.

Sad, but true.

Honestly, Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s speech in Athens will go down in the history books.

Perhaps, at a time when the political stakes are extraordinarily high and tensions are running at their peak — in the United States, across Europe, and in Romania, to be perfectly honest — it may take time for people to fully absorb a message of such significance. In the meantime, speculation is inevitable.

But statesmen like Marco Rubio will be understood in their true measure once the geopolitical tectonic plates begin to settle. Only then will some people realize that the turning point was real.

In a democracy, identity — and sometimes even an identity crisis — is a reality that calls for vision and pragmatism, not noise.

I only hope it won’t be too late by the time people learn to listen to the silence after the storm. Sadly, many failed to understand the silence before it came. 🇺🇸🇷🇴
