People are concerned about palm oil, and everyone, including us, is asking if there’s some way to increase its #sustainability. Have you ever thought if we could engineer microbes to produce palm oil? Did you know that our community is researching that very thing - right now? 🧵
Interested in doing a PhD in host-aware mammalian synthetic biology? Do you want to develop novel control systems for mammalian cell applications?
Then the Ceroni lab is for you! Reach out to me and we can discuss!

By now you have probably realised that our food system is highly unsustainable!
What can we do about it?
What are we (researchers, industry, stakeholders) doing about it?
Join our Forum next Tuesday and learn about the future of food 🥘👇🏼

Albert Einstein broke science. His influence remains colossal.
But what was his way of ideation? He did not force creativity.
He just relaxed and did seemingly unrelated things. Basically, he stopped actively doing #science.
Einstein called it “combinatory play”.
This includes concentrating on one activity while allowing the mind to wander in a different direction.
His famous quote is: “I never came upon any of my discoveries through the process of rational thinking.”
▫️
Steve Jobs also highlighted the same phenomenon:
“When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while.” [1996, WIRED Magazine]
▫️
This is why:
- you should not be overworking on a daily basis.
- a good employer gives you enough vacation time.
- companies that foster creativity make the workspace diverse (kitchen, gym, entertainment, etc).
▫️
If you defocus from your tasks, it doesn’t mean your brain stops thinking.
You can enjoy life while your brain is making an impact on the world.

(1/8) 🥓 Once scaled effectively, cultivated meat could create a radically more sustainable food system.
However, FBS is not a solution for achieving mass market adoption due to:
🔹 its price volatility
🔹 its performance variability
🔹 its limited global production

Animal gelatin is one of the most common reagents used in cell culture.
Apparently pumpkin seed protein works just as well.
#cultivatedmeat will drive all animal cell culture industries to be animal-free.
