@SwavZielin @TeaTramRussia There were significant verbal/political assurances in 1990 that NATO would not move eastward, including Baker’s famous “not one inch eastward” statement. Gorbachev said that the later enlargement of NATO was “a violation of the spirit” of the assurances Western leaders had given.
