SOCI 255 Medical Sociology is so very lucky to have @laurendolsen visiting today @Vassar to do a Q&A on her new book, "Curricular Injustice."
Pick up a copy! It addresses the how social sci & humanities are jankily incorporated into medical education--and why that is bad.
Can we stop scheduling events/seminars/etc constantly after 4 pm. It is hard for people with kids. I understand occasionally having these things but it feels like every other university-related event is held in the late afternoon and as a momma of 3, my priorities are different.
Usually I don’t talk about stuff like this because frankly it happens way too often. But not today…
As I pulled into the same faculty parking lot that I park in all the time @msstate, a white woman was coming out of my office building. Her car was parked next to the space I pulled into.
“As people, we tend to forget that we cannot control nature,” said Semenya, who missed out on a chance at a third Olympic gold over 2019 rules enforcing testosterone levels in women athletes.

Calling in my white colleagues. Please don’t share graphs about the lack of racial diversity in academy & stay silent now. You can disagree with my thoughts on this, but what are YOUR thoughts? Are you afraid to publicly share your thoughts? Say that then and reflect on that!
?’s I have: 1) “agency”. Was @Dr_B_Pearl and other award winner informed of this decision or JUST notified of “decline”. If later, that’s not agency. 2) if there was thought about words as noted “We did not use…” , doesn’t that mean they THOUGHT what was happening was suspect?
