“I don’t think things are getting better, I think we can slow the degree to which they’re getting worse” - Sir David Attenborough
#2019EBE#ClimateDebate
Sir David Attenborough says it is "shameful" of the Prime Minister not to attend last night's climate change debate.
"I don't know what else he had to do, but it would have to be very, very important to dodge this one."

The main driver of #deforestation in the #Amazon is #agriculture. Cattle are grazed on areas that were once dense #rainforest. Soya & other crops are grown in huge areas of #monoculture to feed livestock.
This is directly threatening 1000s of species...including humans #2019EBE
Some incredible wildlife spotting the last couple of weeks - oceanic white tip sharks and scalloped hammerhead sharks - epic field trip for our @SussexBiology@SussexLifeSci students - hard work but incredible life experience in addition to the field research skills 👍

Hyenas are very vocal. Each individual has a individually characteristic “whoop” that they perform to call for backup. The well-known giggle, on the other hand, is used when agitated or in danger. #EBE2019#hyena#vocalisations#communication#social#carnivore

Most jaguars are light, but others dark. This is polymorphism - the possibility of two or more traits on one gene. Many people think any black big cat is a 'panther.' Panthers are not a separate species, but a color morph of jaguars, leopards, & pumas! #TheMoreYouKnow#2019EBE
Great news to start the day! While this decision has been made for the safety of the public, rather than the climate emergency, this shows the importance of research in affecting decision makers.
