@Ranchdingus Slide is not a foul. He didn't touch the opponent until Madueke kicked him instead of the ball. He then dove.
That's as blatant of a dive as it could be, no pen and yellow any day.
@Ranchdingus The only contact was Madueke kicking Tillman two steps before his legs suddenly stop working. There was zero contact initiated by the defender.
@MarcPDumont@ESPNRefNHL Rule 49: Kicking
The following should clarify deflections following a kicked puck that enters the goal:
(i) A kicked puck that deflects off the body of any player of either team (including the goalkeeper) shall be ruled no goal.
By rule, no goal, I'm afraid
I'm sure there will be measured global response, with sanctions, stripping of the World Cup, and isolation, as a result of an illegal unprovoked military invasion of a foreign nation. After all, the world got plenty of training in that regard, right? Right?
@MarcPDumont Presumably, swinging at a bouncing puck, missing it but not the opponent's face is considered a wild swing.
From my understanding, the exception applies when the player is in control of the puck when shooting, not a battle with both players poking and swatting at the puck.
@MarcPDumont "A wild swing at a bouncing puck would not be considered a normal windup or follow through and any contact to an opponent above the height of the shoulders shall be penalized accordingly"
