If the Green Line 'Luas-Metro' was always the plan, why can't the Cherrywood-Sandyford section cater for a high-speed, driverless Metro?
Keep it in a tunnel and connect to Sandyford as an interchange via UCD and Stillorgan.

No real sense in an underground Metro following the Green LUAS line (Hardcourt Rail) route to Dundrum. Better to link south city centre with metro to Terenure, Rathfarnham and outer southern suburbs with new orbital bus connections.
