Germany announced that it will run for a seat on the @UN Security Council for the 2035β2036 and 2043β2044 terms. Germany continues to assume responsibility for global peace and security β including within the highest global body. #UNSC
Congratulations to the newly elected members of the #UNSC, especially to #Austria & #Portugal. I am convinced they will work to advance peace & security for the benefit of the global community. Germany will stay committed to peace & security worldwide & to a UN capable of action.
It was a pleasure meeting my colleague from Trinidad and Tobago πΉπΉ, Sean Sobers @mfcagovtt. Germany & Trinidad and Tobago are committed to multilateralism, international law & the @UN. Germany will continue to advocate for the interests of small island developing states.

Germany is once again seeking a seat on the Security Council for the 2027/28 term. We are doing so with a clear sense of responsibility. We stand ready to continue to contribute to conflict prevention, mediation and humanitarian action β not alone, but together with our partners.

SCR thanks the government of @GermanyUN for its generous support for this project, and all colleagues who shared their perspectives on the issues covered in the report.
Happy Security Council Political Coordinators Day! As UNSC Political Coordinator for Germany (2011/12) I do remember the great rapport we had amongst ourselves and with the Secretariat colleagues! @SCProcedures @GermanyUN
Today is SECURITY COUNCIL POLITICAL COORDINATORS DAY!
We celebrate on 15 May since it's the birthday of the UK's David Gore-Booth who in 1985 unintentionally began coordination activities which eventually evolved into the irreplacable role which political coordinators play today!
Over the coming weeks, I will be posting some of my favourite pictures taken over the years of πΉπΉ Trinidad and Tobagoβs amazing birds! @exploretrinidad#trinidadandtobago
