Strangely enough, one of founders' unique sources of strength is that they've experienced weakness. Hired CEOs tend to take the power of the companies they run for granted. But the founders remember when the company was so weak that it could only survive by delighting users.
I talked to a founder who was demoralized because all the ideas he could think of could be easily duplicated. I told him to ignore that worry; nearly all startup ideas are like that at first. Their value is the other ideas they lead to.
Nobody tells you this: You can wake up and decide that's enough. Enough of the low standards. Enough of the bad habit. Enough of the outdated identity. Enough of whatever. You don't need some dramatic reason, either. It's perfectly reasonable to wake up one day, say "this no longer works for me," and make a change. You can reinvent yourself. Today, tomorrow, and as many times as you need to create the life you want.
The older you get, the more you realize luck is just exposure.

• Talk to strangers
• Try a new coffee spot
• Post on social
• Start a side hustle
