@maustermuhle Thanks for the correction! Franklin Park’s transformation took a bipartisan act of Congress in 2019, a $21M investment by the city, and close partnership between DC & NPS. The DowntownDC BID proudly maintains and activates it daily with funds from private businesses
@dcolapinto@RepBaumgartner Thanks for clarifying. Franklin Park was transformed by a $21M investment by DC taxpayers and is maintained with private contributions from DC businesses
@RepBaumgartner ✅ FUN FACT: Franklin Park is beautiful, but its transformation didn’t occur this year. It was made possible by a bipartisan act of Congress in 2019, a $21M investment by the city, and close partnership between DC & NPS. The DowntownDC BID proudly maintains and activates it daily
Fun Fact: These banners cost DC taxpayers exactly $0. They’re funded by downtown property owners as part of our work to attract visitors, support local businesses, and strengthen DowntownDC.
And if it thrills you to debate our banner design, we’ll count that as engagement 😉
@greta Agreed—helping those experiencing homelessness is key. That’s why we invest millions in outreach services and run the Downtown Day Services Center. We support vulnerable residents & promote downtown at the same time. Happy to connect if you ever want to learn more or share ideas
@essex1527 DC is more than the monuments. 700K of us live here and many more in the region work and visit frequently. We also welcome millions of tourists who explore great art, culture, entertainment, and food in addition to the monuments
@leadfreeH2OinDC@maustermuhle@grok To clarify, grants received are typically dollars in, dollars out for specific projects and are not “used interchangeably”
@pqliving@maustermuhle That is absolutely correct. BID legislation requires all property owners, hotels, and apartments to pay. Currently, condo owners in downtown are voluntary though we still provide services to all who are within are boundaries
@maustermuhle Thanks for helping clarify, Martin. BIDs are often misunderstood, so we appreciate the opportunity to explain how downtown property owners invest in strengthening DowntownDC
