Joint Statement by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of France and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on Wildfires and Action on Climate Change | France Diplomatie https://t.co/fkFO0oaJYX
🇪🇪 Today at the #UNGA debate on the Global Energy Transition:
•🇪🇪 is committed to achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
•Our greenhouse gas emissions have already fallen by 66% compared to 1990.
•The number of 🇪🇪 cleantech companies has increased tenfold.
Estonia 🇪🇪 has once again been ranked the world’s most environmentally friendly country, topping the Environmental Performance Index by @Yale and @Columbia for the second time.
By cutting emissions, scaling renewable energy, and accelerating clean‑tech innovation, Estonia demonstrates that ambitious climate action can be both strategic and achievable.
The climate crisis is not only an environmental challenge, it is a growing security threat that will shape geopolitics, economic stability, and global resilience. Acting now is a responsibility we all share.
Long‑term security requires diversified energy sources, sustained investment in sustainability, and deeper international cooperation.
These are the foundations of a resilient and secure future.
Estonia 🇪🇪 is contributing an additional 125 000 euros to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, bringing our total support to 2.75 million euros.
As Russia intensifies its strikes against Ukraine’s 🇺🇦 energy infrastructure, reinforcing the protection of energy facilities and bolstering the resilience of supply is essential.
Estonia has been a consistent supporter of Ukraine’s energy sector, providing over 3 million euros in donations, equipment and technical assistance to help keep critical systems running.
Estonia 🇪🇪 is contributing 100,000 euros to the @ITF_Forum Ukraine Transport Support Fund, becoming one of the first countries to do so.
The UTSF strengthens the recovery and resilience of Ukraine’s 🇺🇦 civil transport system, supporting the restoration of railways, roads, ports as well as logistics and mobility.
At a time when critical infrastructure remains a primary target of Russia’s aggression, every contribution that reinforces Ukraine’s connectivity and deterrence capacity matters.
Great to be part of this year’s @london_climate Action Week, and yesterday’s Climate Innovation Forum #CIF2026. Estonia has a lot to offer in climate discussions, from one of the highest shares of emissions reduction and renewable energy in the 🇪🇺, to our cleantech innovations.
NEW @IEA data: clean energy investment is now more than double fossil fuels.
$2,155bn vs $1,008bn in 2025.
The crossover happened around 2016. Since then the gap has only widened. What was a narrow lead a decade ago is now a >2-to-1 split.
Putin is in trouble. This is precisely the wrong moment to offer him a way out.
Keep calm and stay the course. Our strategy is working.
To those concerned about the risks posed by a losing aggressor, remember: aggression succeeding would be far more dangerous.
The last thing Europe should do is self-deter.
Honored to meet with @NRCgov Commissioner Wright at @MFAestonia.
🇺🇸 government agencies provide valuable technical expertise and support to 🇪🇪, as we consider the potential use of nuclear power. We are lucky to have a great partner in NRC for that.
The #NB8 climate ambassadors met in Tallinn to discuss how today’s geopolitical tensions are reshaping climate diplomacy and to prepare for #COP31.
The impacts of climate change on human rights, global security, economic stability and migration cannot be sidelined. They demand continued focus.
With its commitment to international law, leadership in clean tech and innovation, and expanding renewable energy sector, the NB8 region is well placed to help guide Europe’s climate agenda.
Strengthening our capacity to adapt, innovate and cooperate will determine how well our societies withstand the challenges ahead.
NEW RESEARCH: We modelled three Hormuz closure scenarios.
Europe never physically runs out of gas in any of them.
But under the worst shock, LNG hits $54.9/MMBtu, above the 2022 peak.

The images shared by extremist Minister Ben-Gvir showing the humiliating treatment of detained Flotilla activists are shocking and unacceptable.
All detainees must be treated with dignity and in full respect of human rights and international law, including maritime and humanitarian law.
We remain deeply concerned about the humanitarian situation in Gaza, and sustained, unhindered humanitarian aid must be allowed to enter.
Diplomatic efforts must continue to restore the Gaza peace plan, ensure access for aid, and uphold international law and human dignity.
At today’s #G7+ Ukraine Energy Support Group meeting in Berlin, I highlighted 🇪🇪 increased contributions to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund during the last heating season, our pledge to financially support the restoration of #Chornobyl NSC, and the next #URC2027 in Tallinn.
Today in Berlin, representing @MFAestonia at the Energy Security Conference, focused on lessons from Ukraine. 🇪🇪 and 🇪🇺 will remain committed to supporting, and increasingly more, partnering with 🇺🇦 energy sector. We never want to go back to Russian energy.
At the Baltic Sea Strategy Forum, I stressed that our region needs a bigger vision for regional connectivity: the Tallinn-Helsinki tunnel should be seen as a strategic corridor extending toward the Arctic Ocean, connecting it more directly with wider Europe and integrating it into a broader trans-European transport network.
Security is a precondition for growth and wellbeing. That means stronger defence, sustained support for Ukraine, tougher sanctions on Russia, and accountability through a tribunal.
The Baltic Sea region is a global-scale economic area powered by education and innovation - from NB8 cooperation to new industrial and tech hubs like Ida-Virumaa.
An excellent discussion with @Udenrigs_DK yesterday at @MFAestonia. Together with our wonderful team, we talked about Estonian climate and energy policy, connectivity projects such as Rail Baltic, and much more.
"Renewables make electricity expensive" line doesn't survive contact with data.
But neither does claim that wind+solar automatically deliver cheap power.
Europe: renewables r = -0.51, wind+solar only r = -0.14. Hydro does heavy lifting.

Glad to represent @MFAestonia at this year’s @EUSBSR Forum to discuss international cooperation, climate and energy policy, and challenges such as the shadow fleet affecting the environment around the Baltic Sea.
