I don't know if you guys realize that there is now a (very famous) precedent for how saying publicly that you are a victim of domestic violence, without naming your abuser, is considered defamation
it makes absolutely no sense to conclude, based on a single person abusing a pseud, that we should not trust pseuds, which give a lot of marginalized people safety and a way to express themselves
Agreed. There is a long history of pseud networking in #scicomm. There are lots of reasons to maintain a pseud, particularly related to DEI issues. A first order contact is sufficient to create good will and earn trust in this network b/c itβs not abused.
