@VigilantFox Simple-minded solution sounds great -- except to anyone who knows anything about education. What about kids w behavior problems or learning disabilities? And who will teach kids who refuse to do any work at all (yes, these kids exist)?

“Pay for performance. That’s what businesses do. There’s no reason we shouldn’t be running our public schools in the same way.”

Vivek announced that he plans for Ohio to become the first state in the nation to adopt merit-based pay for every teacher, principal, and administrator.

He says that performance reviews should go beyond standardized testing, incorporating peer reviews, parent feedback, and student outcomes—with a clear goal of rewarding the best educators.

@illinoispolicy The simplistically written article doesn’t cover enough ground. I’ve had students refuse to do any work, or repeatedly skip class altogether. How would I be scored for that? Will the principal remove those kids? There are factors outside of teachers control.

@MrDanielBuck I’m reading comments abt futr teaching being done by AI. Possible problems: 1) Who’s gonna prod idle kids into doing work? 2) in all likelihood the AI teaching companies will have more power than teacher unions do now; big power shift.

Instead of moving “up” into admin, these top-tier educators should get small classes of students who need more attention. Get those kids out of regular classes so those teachers don’t have to divert their time.
