This is such a powerful read, if like me you’re passionate about creating a better work life balance for teachers. @teacherhead thank you for sharing. We want to retain teachers and ultimately many of these ‘low impact activities’ drive teachers out and create high workload.

As a principal, I’m supposed to be an “instructional leader.” But I told our teachers this week, that I don’t know how to do that in the middle of a pandemic.
Right now is not the best time to talk about programs, plans, data points, and “best practices.” It is time to support.

Wellbeing meetings don't reduce teacher workload. Banning emails on a weekend doesn't reduce workload. Cutting workload needs to be about stopping doing things, not just shifting them, writes @MichaelT1979

@MR_EnglishT I have seen this far too often... (# 2)! This we cannot change without training and developing mindset or having the ‘right’ staff; I could even go back as far as teacher training and modules to address this, before entering the work place! #getteacherstalking
I agree with your mantra, but more importantly, what leads to teachers having to stay late and work from home? These things need to be addressed to help teacher workload and teacher wellbeing! #getteacherstalking
Haven’t tweeted for a while... I have just watched @thebodycoach 10 year success story, it’s incredibly motivating, as someone who aspires to achieve to help others, within the teaching community. #getteacherstalking#MentalHealthAtChristmas

Why are schools in the toughest areas still struggling to get the top grades from your inspectors? Why has the new framework failed to resolve this when people have been flagging up this injustice for years now?
Just also for the record... my printing credit at work is -£76.88. This makes me have awful anxiety so I had to email the head, to which he replied, “You don’t need to worry about this.” 🤣 #teacher
I feel lucky because I have an extremely supportive deputy head and head. This week they have shown me that my health and work life balance is a priority. Thank you. #teacher#getteacherstalking
Never mind tomorrow, high five if you’ve managed to:
-Wash your hair
-Eat a vegetable
-Get through a sentence without getting the words back to front
-Not said ‘for God’s sake’ under your breath
- avoid getting into a one-upmanship chat about who is more tired
The #1 problem/weakness in teaching and how to address it. @teacherhead Another fabulous read! So helpful! If you haven’t read this, do read it ASAP, it’ll improve your teaching without increasing workload. Thank you. #teacher#TeachingTuesday#educhat https://t.co/J6kEFIoIay
Any NQTs or students out there who are training to teach, I’d be interested to know how much training is provided in teaching you how to manage your time and ppa, prioritise things on your ‘to do’ lists and keep a healthy work life balance? #teacher#studentteacher#NQT
