@Mathemagician4U@teachbetterteam I agree! I am thankful my school is privileged enough to share technology resources so that students can stay connected to their traditional learning. However, if not, inviting students to engage in their own learning experiences is so valuable! #teachbetter#masterychat
A4: If learning loss occurs it is as a result of loss of learning experience due to inequitable systems/methods. This is not a "learner" problem and we need to do our best do provide solutions. #masterychat#teachbetter
A3: "Learning loss" places students behind. Rather, we need to meet them where they are, highlight their strengths and support them in setting goals that will move them forward rather than hold them back. #masterychat#teachbetter#edchat5415SoMe
A2: Loss carries negative connotations. It exemplifies that effort, energy, time and resources are wasted. We need to change our mindset to focus on holistic growth. Learning is not always academic. #masterychat#teachbetter#educhat5414
A1: We are always learning, whether in institutions, social interaction, lived experience etc. While learning may look different - we are never at a loss. #teachbetter#masterychat#educhat5414
@JamesAlanOLOO@Joshua__Stamper I love this. Our job is not to serve the curriculum, it's to deliver it. Our job is to serve our students, they are our priority!
@LaVonnaRoth A6 Transform your outlook on teaching from a job to a vocation. Serve your students on their path. Emphasize the process and guide. Highlight strengths always and support when needed #MasteryChat#EdChat5415SoMe
Remember the children we are teaching are not empty vessels. Invite them to collaborate in their learning, allow them to share their experience, prioritize them as leaders in learning! #MasteryChat#EdChat5415SoMe
@LaVonnaRoth Q5: adopting a holistic teaching approach. Truly preserving all elements of our colleagues and students identities. Creating inclusive environments where all feel safe to work and learn. As well, adopt a student-centred learning approach where interest helps drives curriculum
@LaVonnaRoth A4: Begin with a strength, be respectful in your engagements, indicate your goal to provoke growth in learning, reflect on whether you are being considerate of the others' perspective, be receptive of any feedback others have to offer you #EdChat5415SoMe
@LaVonnaRoth A3: (2/2) further, the survey helped strengthen the concept that learning experiences are enhanced when parent, student and teacher are viewed as collaborators in the process.
@LaVonnaRoth A3: (1/2) one idea of which I recently tried was creating a Google Forum type of survey for parents and children to complete together. The survey was meant to receive feedback on online teaching/learning to better inform our instruction and support our learners
@RaeHughart I agree! Taking the time to engage in intentional interaction with all colleagues and co-workers. Showing gratitude, recognizing their efforts, sharing a smile... all important contributions to creating a welcoming and inclusive community.
A1: I think it's so important to ask people! My definition of belonging might be different from someone else's. I think it's important to invite conversation and learn from one another and never stop thinking outside of the box to include everyone! #teachbetter#masterychat
