This week we are getting to the bottom of why everyone has started a robotics data labeling company
also covering ai job layoffs (yes, again) and @cognition getting the hype they deserve
03:05 Why does everyone have a robotics data labeling startup
15:34 China is doing robotics data differently
20:15 If Shift offering free home cleaning will work
21:51 Egocentric data vs other types of robotics data
25:31 @sama and @DarioAmodei no longer believe in the job apocalypse, sus or not
40:57 @cognition is so back (they never left)
43:59 What is a coding harness explained for dummies aka our non-technical co-host @anikamirzaa
Today, we are launching shift. Starting in NYC, we are bridging the economy of today into the AI economy where all services, goods, and leisure will be affordable, and humanity will progress towards abundance. Please enjoy your free home cleaning and join shift for a lot more!
@luisocampox@AnthropicAI congrats!! we love building in claude. so far mostly skills for repetitive items (like episode description first passes), we update our crm through claude, and are super excited to see what we can do with the new descript mcp 🕺🏽
Somebody dared to give me a mic and a spotlight
A year after YC, @aquariusacquah and I sat down with @Getthecheckpod to share some hot takes, what drives us as a founders, and our progress at @joinkaizen
Kaizen now works with the nation's largest healthcare providers to eliminate the $1,000,000,000,000 admin overhead.
every ai agent startup right now is hiring FDE
@aquariusacquah and @michael_silver think that's the wrong call
@joinkaizen is helping automate the hardest healthcare workflows without FDE
tune in to find out how

24:24 Hot take: you don't need FDEs
27:40 Why pain tolerance matters
32:43 Do founders get to have hobbies?
They started as a hearing aid non-profit
Now their launch video has 11M views
We sat down with @arishs24 to talk about:
- Why no one thought about this before
- His first 3 weeks in SF
- How he met @aaronyu06 and Ramin Syed
@amano_labs is proof that breakthrough technology only matters if people can actually use it

40:16 @arishs24 co-founder of @amano_labs on building a hearing aid that costs $1
We co-hosted a women’s wine night this week with @miakrishh from @CRV at the coolest venue in SF that almost no one can get into
@mayamshahh's apartment
A year into hosting a top 50 tech podcast that started fully online, the biggest ROI has come from in person events
One hack to hosting a good event is picking a venue where people feel at home (literally!)
DM us if you’re building or investing in AI and want to come to the next event that has builders from @mercor_ai, @EvidenceOpen, @SierraPlatform, @agentmail, @greptile, @ICONIQCapital, & more!

figure is now able to get two humanoids to work together to make a bed
this is big. the two humanoids do not share any planning system. they are simply just reacting to each-other in real time. my observations from this:
1. figure can scale the number of humanoids working together efficiently
2. figure demonstrated that humanoids will stay OUT of a real human's way
#2 is super important: this means they can simulate human to humanoid interactions with just humanoids. this will allow them to conduct RL without any human in the loop which will let them scale faster and cheaper.
Young people massively underestimate how their public social media can increase high paying job offers
I have personally seen someone get five offers because of their social media content. All were 300k+ total comp roles. Real cases
If you are aiming for 85k forever you are probably fine
If you’re aiming bigger follow @brookeleblanc (idk her, she seems cool though)
this all feels like a marketing stunt as anthropic gears up to release the model, my thoughts:
- yes it will be good
- i think the security bug findings are overblown but i don't know until the release the key details, rumors say the bugs are not truly exploitable
- they have needed a way to publicly delay the release of the model until they could get enough compute capacity, which they got yesterday with the colussus announcement
@dadiomov everyone in the comments is pointing out fees but he was specifically asking about ecommerce shopping where consumers (who run these agents) use credit cards because its credit and either 1. they legitimately don't have the money to buy the good or 2. they want rewards
Rumors suggest that xAI's entire combined fleet is sitting at 11% MFU - when industry standard is closer to 37 to 45%. That’s just cash getting burned. SpaceX/xAI’s efforts the last two weeks to announce partnerships with both Anthropic and Cursor show their resignation to winning the frontier model race with Grok alone. Their double bet of 1. providing Anthropic with compute capacity for inference and 2. training alleged Composer 3 shows them entertaining two different futures: becoming a hyperscaler themself or buying coding frontier model if the Cursor team can prove themselves. With a major IPO on the horizon, SpaceX needs investors to believe in at least one of these stories.
SpaceXAI will provide @AnthropicAI with access to Colossus 1, one of the world’s largest and fastest-deployed AI supercomputers, to provide additional capacity for Claude → https://t.co/nfDR9S822L
