@SamJAnson7@GSpellchecker@Shilisad1 ...
- refusing service in a pub that’s open to the public on the explicit basis that the customer holds a protected belief = unlawful, no defence available (s.13 & s.10 EqA)
HTH /end
@SamJAnson7@GSpellchecker@Shilisad1 GC belief & being Muslim are equally protected by s.10 Equality Act 2010
FYI:
- an association for people who share a protected characteristic = lawful (Sch 16 §1 EqA)
- “women” = biological women (For Women Scotland)
- hence, Cambridge Uni Society for Women = lawful

@wrexhamris51760@MForstater@thetimes@anyabike This truncated quote reverses the meaning of the full paragraph in FWS in support of the core premise of his legal reasoning. It’s atrocious and incomprehensible from an experienced judge. I would expect to be disciplined for trying to mislead the court if I tried it
This is an incredibly disturbing bit of misrepresentation by the tribunal judge. He edits a line from the FWS judgment (black background) to remove the word "trans" from "trans woman", and then cuts the - very important - rest of the sentence. https://t.co/QObPErVgsv
@quineofthenorth@StoatlyL The wing members have nothing to do with the written judgment, to be completely fair. They probably didn’t even see it before it was promulgated.
@HoltFelix37777@SVPhillimore To balance rights there have to be rights to balance. Trans identified men have no right to enter women’s single sex spaces, so no balancing is required.
@Katejsm1@Scot_Feminists You do seem to have an unfortunate habit of spreading misinformation about this area of law. This is not in your long term interests.
@Katejsm1@Scot_Feminists No, you are quite wrong. There has to be a legit aim + proportionate means to have a single sex service in the first place. Once that test is met, you don’t have to further justify excluding trans people of the opposite sex
