@bryan_caplan@tylercowen Rheingold isn’t even the shortest one, Flying Dutchman is probably shorter.
And Tannhäuser & Lohengrin are not at all too long.
@RonDeSantis I remember Broward County tried this to you in 2018, even as the sitting governor was also on that ticket.
Has there ever been any explanation for what happened? What do you think they were up to, Governor?
@KenGardner11 It’s a positive feedback mechanism. The stupider it gets, stupider people become attracted to careers in politics just as flies are attracted to horse shit.
@Elex_Michaelson@katieporterca A large share of private insurance administrative cost is simply tax compliance, which Medicare is exempt from.
With Medicare for all, you would lose that tax revenue and therefore would not be saving all of that money currently spent on compliance.
@RichardHanania In recent years a handful of GOP states have reduced or eliminated certificate of need, flattened or moved to eliminate income tax, engaged in large scale deregulation, ect.
Some have also loosened occupational licensing, although a couple Dem states have too.
@feelsdesperate You’re not cynical, everyone else is being naive. Dems are extremely fortunate that business/professional types who support them constantly give them the benefit of the doubt.
@bonchieredstate Which is why it’s good to let NYC and California shoot themselves in the foot some more. That’ll make the next apportionment even more severe.
@JasonMiyaresVA If they did something this radical, the Congress should immediately move to undo the 1846 retrocession of DC. That would not only put their house seats, but also Warner’s senate seat in jeopardy.
