Dear Comrades,
The fight for Five-Day Banking must not be seen merely as a struggle for implementation of an agreement that has remained pending for more than 30 months. This is a fight for our existence, our dignity, our families and our fundamental right to a humane working life.
Public Sector Bank employees serve far more customers than our private-sector counterparts. Even with private banks accounting for a substantial share of the banking market, it is overwhelmingly the Public Sector Banks and their employees who carry the burden of Government-sponsored schemes, financial inclusion, social-sector banking and the last-mile delivery of public policy.
We work for institutions owned by the people and for a Government that expects us to reach every citizen. We have never shied away from that responsibility. But those who expect us to serve the nation must also recognise one simple truth:
We are not robots. We are not machines. We are not AI tools. We are human beings.
We have families waiting for us, children who need our time, parents who need our care, and lives beyond targets, reviews, late-night meetings and relentless workplace pressure.
We are not asking for privilege. We are asking for dignity, balance and justice.
The growing culture of excessive working hours, constant pressure and an increasingly toxic work environment cannot become the new normal. Five-Day Banking is one important step towards restoring humanity to our workplaces.
Save the banker. Save the banking family. Respect the commitment already made.
Five-Day Banking is not a luxury.
It is not an unreasonable demand.
It is a just demand whose time has come.
Let us stand together, for ourselves, for our families and for the generations of bankers who will come after us.
Five-Day Banking is For Dignity. For Family. For a Humane Workplace.
March ahead with courage and unity for the three-day strike from 28th to 30th September and make it a resounding success. No fear, no threat and no intimidation can weaken our collective resolve. Officers and employees stand together , we are all strikers in this historic struggle.

Bankers seek 5 days week & fairness & dignity at work. Discriminatory PLI system to be abolished and replaced with a fair, transparent & inclusive framework for all employees, recognising the collective effort behind every institution’s performance.
#5DayWeekandFairPLI@PMOIndia
@gsaiubof@PMOIndia Bankers are human tooo. When other financial institutions can rest on weekends why not bankers???? Why such discrimination of pli? We field level workers are doing all the work and executives are chilling by ordering targets. Then getting highest level of pli.
Modern economies measure outcomes, not exhausted hours.
5-Day Banking boosts productivity, service quality, and sustainability.
Implement it now.
#BankersDemand5DayWeek
A 5-day banking week would promote employee well-being and productivity among Indian bank staff, leading to better service for customers! #BankersDemand5DayWeek#AIBOC
Embracing a shorter week reflects modern work culture, attracting talent that prioritizes work-life balance and well-being. #Implement5DayBanking https://t.co/josw1h4g0q
A better banking experience starts with a sustainable workweek. With acute staff shortages and mounting stress, 5-day banking is about public service and employee well-being, not a privilege.
UFBU has been pressing since 2015; IBA has already recommended it to the Government (MoU 07-12-2023), and the 12th Bipartite/9th Joint Note (08-03-2024) records the Saturday holiday clause, pending approvals/clearances.
Honour what’s on record. Approve all Saturdays off.
#Implement5DayBanking
A 5-day workweek would encourage employees to bring fresh ideas to the table, transforming banks into hubs of innovation. #Implement5DayBanking https://t.co/TBR3MWF1VF
A rested workforce serves the public better. With staff shortages and rising stress, 5-day banking is a service-quality issue, not a “perk.” UFBU has pursued this since 2015; IBA has recommended it to the Government (MoU 07-12-2023), and it’s included in the 12th Bipartite/9th Joint Note (08-03-2024), pending clearances.
Let’s finish what’s already agreed.

@FinMinIndia@DFS_India@PMOIndia@ChiefIba
When the world is moving to a 4-day week, and banking is already 24x7 in the digital era, bankers asking for a 5-day week isn’t a luxury. It’s justice.
IBA has agreed. The understanding is signed.
Now the Government must honour its commitment – no more excuses, no more delays.
Respect the Settlement. Deliver it.

AIBOC( WB) writes to @MamataOfficial@Chandrimaaitc requesting reinstate holiday on #Janmashtami on Aug 16. When 21 States & UTs have declared holiday under NI Act,why lacs of Bankers in #WB would be denied of significant Hindu Festival.Hope considerate CM will consider it.
