Added thought. The tag play on a rundown should never happen with the momentum going home. Get rid of it early, run him back to 3rd for the tag. Too many variables that lead to a run scored.

Delay pick 3B. Ideally you want to give the ball up a little sooner on the run down. The runner gets careless because he thinks you are going to your knees to return the ball to the pitcher. Timing is the key here. You have to be slow enough to set the runner up & fast enough to redirect your body angle before your knees hit the ground.
