Can a reputation for vindictiveness be helpful for the long term shareholder value of the company? I try to cultivate such a reputation in board games because I find it can be very valuable in e.g. Coup. I'm not naturally that vindictive so I have to work to play it up
BTW, I approached ABC about buying back the former FiveThirtyEight IP*, and they said they wouldn't sell at any price because I'd criticized their management of the brand. Costing Disney shareholders $$ b/c of their vindictiveness.
* I own the models but the trademarks, etc.
A lot of unions are shitty but that's not a reason to not have unions
A lot of police departments are shitty but that's not a reason to abolish
Unfortunately 98% of police unions are shitty and this is where we separate the deontologists from the consequentialists
If you asked Claude to build you a house it would build you the most beautiful house, and then you’d go inside and you’d be like, “Claude there’s no bathrooms.” And Claude would say, “There were no bathrooms before either, so it’s actually a pre-existing issue”
I have a bunch of secret AI benchmarks I only reveal when they fall, and today one did. I give the AI 1000 words written by me and never published, and ask them who the author is. They generally give flattering wrong answers (see ChatGPT, below:)
@liminal_warmth Probably easier on rewatch to imagine her internal monologue when you know what's coming?
Elegant injection of character thoughts into narrative is the superpower of prose. Not really an excuse, it's a film maker's job to work around their medium's weaknesses and they failed
@liminal_warmth I think identical plot points could justify it 100x better if we only had her internal monologue. I suspect s8 is actually very close to GRRM's plan that he shared with show runners, and that it will be much more compelling as a novel
My best tip for anyone trying to get back into reading is to remember that you can read books to avoid other responsibilities in your life, and it can become a vice if you play your cards right.
banning LLMs for medical inquiries is nuts to me because they've been substantially better than on call nurse lines for at least a year if not more
I haven't caught one in a hallucination re: medical stuff in over a year either and I do fact check
LLMs are at their best here
@gfodor The government should not have the power to require private citizens to do specific work that goes against their conscience, even if the work would be legal to do.
