I eavesdropped this debate last night and was utterly bewildered by the views expressed by many. What will a "moss Republic" with probably less than 10k graduates, with life expectancy of 55 years, literacy rate of 37%, less than 1000 graduate doctors, a few trained nurses (like @hodansomali) one of the lowest GDP in the world, exports few camels and some "ceysan", control less than 10% of its territory gain from joining the EAC? MADNESS! Why don't they first have a functional government? Or do they just want see their President and PM address gatherings of the head of states and government of the EAC speaking haltingly in swahili? (cried to death watching videos making the rounds of President Hassan Sheikh mumbling something that remotely sounds like Arabic in the last Arab League meeting and PM Hamza muttering somethings that reminded me of my class one sentences construction lessons in English in Mandera DEB under the able tutelage of the legendary Maalim Orre...)
