Not a mortgage broker, but go on. Next you’re going to ask me what the definition of “is” is….
Tech agreed and signed on to the conference bylaws. Regardless, this is a pathetic look for the university and its supporters. If you don’t think irreparable harm is being done to stated conference aspirations and reputation…IDK what to say.
The injunction is against the NCAA only.
The Big 12 Conference is not a party to the lawsuit and is not bound by the order. The Big 12’s governance documents create a separate contractual relationship among member institutions (including Texas Tech). These are not merely advisory; they are binding membership obligations.
The Big12 can absolutely take action, irrespective of the TI.
NEW: Texas AG Ken Paxton sent a formal letter to Big 12 officials threatening legal action if the conference moves to sanction Texas Tech over its support of QB Brendan Sorsby.

Nope.....only the NCAA is enjoined in the TI.

From the letter: "Should the Big 12 seek. to sanction Texas Tech for acting consistent with the Order, Texas Tech will pursue all legal avenues to protect its interests and those of Texas Tech’s student-athletes."

@BPDuncan@PeteNakos@KenPaxtonTX The ruling does NOT impact the B12 Conference bylaws...that Tech agreed to. It's not collusion if all members vote "independently" to sanction. Read the Conference Bylaws.
@TomMarsLaw@jlkurtz I believe most attorneys know this. My bet (pun intended) is that Paxton sent this out at the behest of Cody Campbell to saber rattle. B12 should do the right thing.
To all my @UHouston alumni and family … there is no reason our stadium shouldn’t not be filled every game. Coach Fritz has done his part, putting a winning team on the field. The failure lies squarely in the AD and those marketing our school. You should really reach out to me for ideas .. what’s the worse that can happen, more empty seats?
I get that. I believe that to be word-smithing to appease all the hostilities of well, everyone. It should be cut & dried, NO PLAY. Talk to any addiction professional and ask them if an addict can recover in a matter of a few months? I guess you're ok with the irreparable harm it will do to the sport?!
I read it....and he twists himself and the school in knots trying to justify playing the kid. I agree with all of it. Give him the love and all the support he needs....but do not let him play! That's the bright yellow line. Not allowing him (the self admitted ADDICT) to suffer the consequences of his actions has a term. It's called ENABLING.
@RPTexan You obviously don't understand the timelines for an appeal. The courts will not decide until after the CFP in late Jan or Feb. Tech should do the right thing and NOT play him. Support hi all you want...and should. This is not hard.
@GamblinGauchos You can't claim the high ground and "no line crossed" IF you play the kid. Support him and get him all the help he needs. You can't hide behind "we did nothing wrong" IF you play him. It's really very simple.
@jaylassoku I usually agree with your takes, but not this one! Native Texan here and have no love for the Whorns. Tech is 100% in the wrong here. Unfortunately, UT still runs the state...
