Yeah, because that makes SOOOOOO
much sense.
Stealing public tax dollars from 5.5 MILLION KIDS that attend Texas public schools to fund the 350,000 kids that already attend private schools.
Tax break for the wealthy that we will all be paying for.
Never Vouchers
Not now
Not ever
Greg Abbott talks a big game about helping students and parents.
But after four special sessions, he’s given our schools $0.
This has never been about helping kids — it’s always been about destroying public education.
@GovAbbott “I don’t like the way you voted, so vote again” is a very short hop from “Let me tell you how you voted.” You need to back up and take a breath. Winning vouchers while losing Democracy is not a win. #BlockVote#1930sGermany @pastors4txkids @TAMSATX@OfficialATPE
Vouchers don’t help poor kids — they just help rich parents who already send their kids to private school.
I asked if Greg Abbott’s voucher scam would give $80,000 to wealthy CEOs.
The answer was YES. #txlege
@CoxHerb “I urge you to actually walk the halls of Public Schools. They are NOT failing. We have AMAZING educators functioning with few resources. Unfunded mandates, worthless testing, and little support, but they continue to function with grace for ALL kids.” -@shaleahxrose
Hey #txed and #txlege friends. Have you noticed the #txlege wants to fund vouchers based on enrollment but #txed ISDs based on attendance? If attendance is important for funding/accountability/academic success, why not the same rules for “systems” that affect students?
What if @GregAbbott_TX called a third special legislative session to bully private school vouchers and #txlege House didn’t show up?
There was no quorum today in the People’s chamber.
They are tired of this.
There will be no vouchers in Texas.
#txed
As far as I know, Abbott has yet to visit a Title I public school though he claims to be promoting his voucher scheme to help low-income families pay for private school. If he’s only visiting private Christian schools/those already paying tuition, who is this really for? #txlege
@GovAbbott 83% of Texans agree you have your priorities misplaced. We want schools that are safe, teachers who are paid fairly and come back next year and our #txed schools funded… before your donor’s pet project #txlege@GregAbbott_TX@TexasGOP
This pic almost says it all! Add that the new school picks and chooses the students (not parent choice), is not accountable to taxpayers (70% of whom don't have school-age children), doesn't build community, doesn't have transparency or proven results, etc. @tasanet#txed
I’m old enough to remember when Texas R’s championed conservative values and D’s promoted liberal big government handouts. My conservative values are still fiscal responsibility & accountability, local control, & investing in public schools #NoVouchers#txlege#WeCanDoBetterTexas
You got that right! We’re not gonna let anyone rip off 5.4 million PreK-12th grade public school kids all over TEXAS with a Voucher Scam — Let’s Go, friends! #txlege#txed
