Congratulations to the newly appointed members of the Judiciary family.
The appointment of Researchers is a welcome step toward strengthening the administration of justice.
The necessity of these appointments is underscored by the significant caseloads in our courts. On average, a HC Judge handles approximately 1,200 cases annually, a Magistrate about 2,000 cases, while Judges in the ELC and ELRC handle approximately 500 and 450 cases respectively each year. Through diligent legal research, the researchers will play a critical role in enhancing judicial efficiency, improving the quality of judicial output, and supporting the timely delivery of decisions.
It is equally encouraging to note that many of the appointees are young lawyers with fewer than five years' post-admission experience. This not only addresses challenges within the legal job market but also contributes to the development and mentorship of the next generation of judicial officers.
I extend my best wishes to all the appointees for every success in their new roles.
