This guy has been super busy wandering in the desert.

Super interesting paper regarding ultra low power consumption LoRa.
I just read it right before to sleep to process it better.
Check it out:

I achieved 38uA sleep current, baseline of the @RAKwireless is ~30uA. I discovered a mistake in my PCB schematic that leads to an always connected back up voltage, power consuption increases between 7 to 8 uA.
I am quite satisfied with the results!!!!
Time for the truth, deep sleep plus RTC operation. I am programming using a RAK dap, after that I disconnect and plug the board to a Nordic PPKII
Next time I will make this easier with a jig or simply using a USB-C port, is very annoying to have to be connect and disconnect
Continuing the RV-3028 testing and debugging, I succesfully achieved RTC persistance after removal of main battery
I am usign as a back up a non rechargeable CR1220
This will enable time persistance and scheduling of events across deep sleep periods from the MCU
The mistake is in the init method for the I2C connection from the “Melopero_RV3028” library, in the examples they mention to use: rtc.initDevice() and the correct is Wire.begin() and then rtc.initI2C()
More and more experimentation on this, now with the RTC.
I have successfully being able to read and to set and read time in the RTC module.
I also discovered some mistakes in the README from the library and the examples that @RAKwireless recommend for the RV-3028 RTC module.
I just achieved a DUF using bluetooth with a @RAKwireless 4630 custom PCB I designed.
I uploaded the firmware with my phone and I am serial monitoring using a RAK DAP in my PC.
This will allow in the future, wireless updates of firmware for animal tracking collars.
@Panis_Resurget@RAKwireless It actually solved my problem of putting the hardware inside the sealed electronics of an animal collar . Just thinking how to make the Bluetooth enabled all the time without consuming so much power, was thinking in a reed switch
@rdotapps This one has Quectel L76K, yet figuring out if I am calling properly the serial from the RUI that @RAKwireless defines, as I am using UART2 I am not sure what is the correct definition in code
I was not able to connect to my RAK 4630, but just exploring with my nRF toolbox I was able to see the hearth rate of someone wearing a @WHOOP around me. Just by accident.
🏃♂️ I've gamified my own run so I can race my own ghost with the Meta Ray-Ban Display.
I built a web app for the glasses, loaded a previous GPX from Strava, and dropped game mechanics on top.
Pick up coins when you keep pace, sprint zones reward extra points if you push, and a mini leaderboard on the lens shows how you're tracking against your past self in real time.
Best part: it actually works. Seeing your ghost 20 m ahead is a way stronger nudge than any number on a watch. 😅
@WarnerTeddy Amazing, now I see better the picture. Are you using helium or The Thing Network? I work with animal tracking, I wang to understand more how does using this networks works
