Watching a bunch of "we are racist, all xenos must be purged" Imperium fans carefully construct lore justifications for why the Imperium would spare Rocky and the Eridians (they totally would) is the most heartwarming, faith-in-humanity-restoring thing I've seen in a while.

People forget that this canonically can happen, and has happened. The Imperium is capable of making exceptions and has institutional structures for doing so. There’s just very few cases because VERY few aliens in 40k are like Rocky.
