@sarahsalviander@TSHamiltonAstro I can almost guarantee that somewhere there are college instructors generating assignments using AI, the students are doing the assignments using AI, and the teachers are grading them using AI. The teachers get paid, and the students get a grade. No one is the wiser - literally.
@TSHamiltonAstro@BruceThompson51 I feel you. Ironically, students are increasingly choosing online (coincidence?) and admin is leaning into this growth. At my college they are reducing in person classes for online without providing support for proctoring because issues like this.
@MattWalshBlog We're getting to the point where some teachers are making assignments using AI, students are doing the assignments using AI, and the teachers are grading them using AI.
@ConfessingKite@gavinortlund Just like any public pastor/theologian, I don't expect to perfectly agree on all points, but the way he handles areas where he knows there is disagreement is appreciated. I can easily recommend him and quickly caveat where I personally stand as a pastor if needed.
@thisisfoster@joe_rigney I usually tell new attendees who are excited by our church and seem overly excited to becomes members, “Give us a chance to disappoint you first, because we will, and if you’re still committed, then let’s talk membership.”
@KSPrior I was an evaluator on a faculty tenure committee, and it became obvious that the VP chairing the committee was using ChatGPT to read and summarize the written feedback of the other evaluators. The tell was that it was manufacturing concerns and problems when there were none!
@drantbradley When I first began pastoring bivocationally with a young family in rural PNW, a local pastor pulled me aside to tell me there are many good sermons online I could print and preach to save time. I appreciated his concern, but we clearly had very different philosophies of ministry.
@erichoke I serve in a more rural context. There are a few churches that can support a pastor, the majority of us are bivocational. I was talking to a missionary from China about this, and he said being bivocational is by far the norm for overseas pastors. It made me feel more content.
@ReganBlntonKing@EvangelicalDW@TexasPreacher Been in several African countries and I agree. The Christians there will tell you the #1 issue for most of the corruption is tribalism: take care of my tribe first and foremost. It's the same root problem.
@ReichardWorld@virgilwalker Yeah, not sure this video was made with kindness and human dignity in mind. Imagine him finding out this was on the internet.
@drantbradley Married my wife as I was enrolling in my M.A. I was stressed about finances, but come to find out, having two adults working and drawing part-time incomes was sufficient for our (then) current needs. It was for a season, and it worked. She's now a stay at home mom.
@ReichardWorld 3) Is prison the right way to deal with drug addiction? Oregon proved being lax on drug possession is not a solution, but punishment doesn't seem to fix the issue either. I sat on a trial where an inmate was getting more time tacked onto a long sentence for drug usage in prison.
