Stanley Ugabe, a reporter with Secrets Reporters, was abducted by armed men in plainclothes from his residence in Abuja on Wednesday, July 1.

As of the time of reporting, his whereabouts remain unknown.

Conflict does not just disrupt lives; it reshapes communities, stalls development, and deepens social divides.

This past week, #CJIDConflictTracker recorded violent incidents in Plateau and Benue states that led to the death of 22 people. These incidents were recorded in communities in Bokkos local government area of Plateau State and Otukpo local government area of Benue State.

To address security gaps and navigate conflict challenges effectively, data-driven insights are essential.

Our tracker serves as a vital tool in this regard. By documenting and analysing conflict patterns, we provide stakeholders, policymakers, and the public with the evidence needed to foster peace, enhance safety, and drive informed interventions.

25 persons were killed in our State and we are just acting like nothing has happened. 25 people killed and the Plateau State Government page on Facebook posted a generic statement about it, the Governor’s page didn’t even touch it.

On Plateau groups, they are allowing bigots draw them into conversations about the ownership of Jos instead of telling the spawns of Satan to go find their ancestral homes.

25 of your people were killed and una no wan talk. 25 citizens and the President is silent and some of you will still vote these two people. Make Una continue.

They will wipe you all out soon enough, by the time they have taken over your villages and succeeded in the ethnic cleansing and genocide they are carrying out, una eyes go clear. Keep chilling, after all… never mind.

I am so pissed, I asked a woman to make soups for me, took time to freeze it for two days, only for me to get to the airport and @greenafrica said I cannot fly with my frozen soup. I told them I was willing to wrap it up and hold it as hand luggage, they refused.

People travel with frozen food across countries but Green Africa cannot allow a passenger fly with soup from Akure to Abuja? A less than one hour flight? You people are not serious, at all.

Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared the winner of the 2026 Ekiti State Governorship Election held on Saturday, June 20, with 319,224 votes.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (@inecnigeria) recorded a total of 382,109 votes cast, broken down as follows:

✅ 375,777 valid votes
❌ 6,332 rejected votes

At Efon LGA, Ward 3, PU 10, as of 8:31 am, voters and sensitive materials were present, and voting had commenced. Three Presiding Officers were available, but no security personnel were present. Elderly voters were not prioritised in the queue.

At Irepodun Ifelodun LGA, Awo Community Ward (03), Odo-Oja PU 006, preparations were ongoing. As of 8:03 am, two polling unit officials were present, while party agents were arriving and voters were being organised into a queue.

The Presiding Officer sensitised voters on the electoral process and how to ensure their votes count. No provisions were available for elderly voters or pregnant women at the polling unit.

This Summit marks a defining moment, a chance to reflect on the journey so far and chart the path ahead.

Ahead of the 2026 Ekiti State Governorship Election, the CJID, through its Media in National Elections (MiNE) project, supported by the Women and Youth in Democratic Engagement (WYDE) initiative, convened young citizens in Ado-Ekiti for a Youth Town Hall meeting to discuss governance priorities, electoral participation, accountability, countering electoral mis- and disinformation, and the strategic role of young people in shaping democratic outcomes.

The dialogue provided a platform for citizens to engage on key governance and electoral issues, strengthen their understanding of the electoral process, and explore ways to contribute to peaceful and informed democratic participation.

Meaningful youth participation remains critical to building a more inclusive, accountable, and responsive democracy.
