October is when data meetings start to matter most. By now, we’ve taught, assessed, and gathered enough information to really see where our students are.
But data alone doesn’t change anything.
It’s not about numbers — it’s about needs.
And those needs won’t be met unless our instruction shifts as a result of what we see.
Let’s make sure our data conversations don’t stop at who’s behind.
Let’s talk about what we’re going to do — and do it.
They’re conversations about teaching, not just testing.
About action, not just analysis.
Because the data doesn’t move until we do.
It’s not critical. It’s reflective.
This is good teaching.

If that's your mentality, then are you competitive?
You should want to because you get to."
Average players complete practice.
Great players compete in it.
When administrators spend time in classrooms, they are reminded how much those teachers have to plan, how much they have to manage, and how unbelievably patient they are. Teachers are the heart and soul of every school.
Clayton Kershaw closed his opening remarks at his retirement press conference with his favorite Bible verse.

As attacks on what scientific research shows works best for reading continue, it's worth looking at what happened in two states that adopted science-based reading programs around 2013 and 2014. MS and SC have posted some really attention-getting results on NAEP. Science working.
