🚨Extremists allegedly plot to target Rath Yatra in Bangladesh: Authorities must act before tt's too late

A UK-based Al Jazeera producer has publicly alleged that banned extremist groups are plotting to exploit the upcoming Rath Yatra on July 16 by provoking unrest and attempting to disrupt one of the Hindu community's most sacred religious festivals.

According to his statement, intelligence reportedly indicates plans to display black-and-white flags bearing Arabic inscriptions along Rath Yatra routes in Dhaka and other locations, allegedly with the objective of creating instability while Indian diplomatic representatives are present.

If these allegations are accurate, they represent a direct threat not only to communal harmony but also to Bangladesh's international reputation. The authorities should investigate these claims without delay, strengthen security around Rath Yatra processions, and ensure that no extremist organization is allowed to exploit a religious event for political or violent ends.

Every citizen—regardless of faith—deserves to celebrate religious festivals in peace and security. Those seeking to spread fear and sectarian discord must be identified and brought to justice.

🚨 Sheikh Hasina won't be allowed to return to Bangladesh!

Aminul Islam, Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal told the media, Sheikh Hasina must be extradited to Bangladesh by the Indian authorities under the extradition treaty. If Hasina attempts to enter Bangladesh on her own, she will be "pushed back" to India.

Former Chief Prosecutor of ICT and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Tajul Islam told the media, [Sheikh Hasina] will be received in Bangladesh border with Manila rope instead of garland, hinting, the former Prime Minister may fall victim of mob-lynching.

Tajul was the Chief Prosecutor during the Yunus regime, who conducted the trial of Sheikh Hasina as state prosecution.

International Crimes Tribunal in Bangladesh can suspend death sentence!

On January 21, 2026, the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) suspended death penalty of Abul Kalam Azad stating he will "remain as he is" after he surrendered exactly 13 years after being sentenced to death in a case of crimes against humanity committed during the 1971 Liberation War. Onwards, Maulana Azad did not go to prison. This was the first-ever instance of the ICT of suspending anyone's death penalty. Meaning, there is provisions of such decision.

With such specific instance, once Sheikh Hasina returns to Bangladesh and surrenders in the International Crimes Tribunal, her death sentence can also be suspended by the court, unless the government has otherwise desire.

This drastic mid-project change was made allegedly to protect private land owned by influential individuals, extending the bridge's length by nearly 100 meters.

This modification has triggered a costly domino effect on local public infra. The new 35-degree alignment now cuts directly through the center of a ₹2.5 crore Smart City parking lot built just four years ago, effectively ruining the facility. Consequently, the Smart City team must now find alternative land to replace the parking space, while the total project cost has climbed to nearly ₹65 crore.

Following the backlash, the Chief Engineer of Setu Nigam has promised an on-site inspection to investigate the revised design and hold the responsible officials accountable.
