This week, community engagement professionals across the state of Georgia convened @SpelmanCollege for the 2nd annual in-person meeting for the Service-Learning Intercollegiate Collaborative of Georgia (SLIC Georgia).

Participating institutions include: @agnesscott, @AUG_University, @ColumbusState, @EmoryUniversity, @GeorgiaGwinnett, @GeorgiaStateU, @GeorgiaTech, @kennesawstate, @MercerYou, @SpelmanCollege @SpelmanServes, and @universityofga @uga_serves!

Throughout the meeting, we networked with colleagues across the state, celebrated accomplishments from the past year, and discussed a shared vision for our work heading into the upcoming academic year.

At GivePulse, we're proud to support this year's Institute and the incredible work being led by @WakeForest, Allison Walker, and the @communitywfu team. The timing feels especially fitting after catching up with Ari from the @BonnerNetwork this weekend in Washington, DC. We were honored to bring along an incredible group of student leaders from the Dominican Republic to this year's @Pointsoflight conference!

Four days.

More than 1,600 nonprofit leaders, volunteers, educators, corporate partners, and changemakers from across the United States and around the globe.

Thousands of conversations.
Hundreds of ideas.
One shared belief.

Service has the power to change communities.

As the 2026 @PointsofLight Conference came to a close, we found ourselves leaving with two messages that will stay with us long after we leave Washington, DC.

What are you willing to fight for?

Not in opposition to others, but in commitment to something bigger than yourself. To your mission. To your volunteers. To the communities that count on you. Real impact doesn't happen because it's easy. It happens because people continue showing up, even when the work is hard.

The second came from an incredible, multi-generational closing panel featuring Amy Miller-Taylor (Chief Program Officer, @GivingTuesday), Eunice Lin Nichols (Co-CEO, @Co_Generate), Neil Bush (Board Chair, @pointsoflight), Amy Meuers (CEO, @nylcorg), Nia Mosby (Head of Programs & Civic Season, @historymadebyus), Emiliana Korin (Youth Advisory Council Member, National Youth Leadership Council), Rosie Rios (Chair of @America250 and the 43rd Treasurer of the United States, 2009-2016), Kaleb Sy (Vice Chair, National Youth Leadership Council Board of Directors), Brenda Robinson (Points of Light Board Member, entertainment executive, investor, philanthropist, and niece of the late Rev. Jesse Jackson), Feven Tesfaye (National Youth Leadership Council student leader and incoming freshman at @Columbia), and Cait Leavey (Founder of @911 Day).

Their message was clear:
Young people don't just want a seat at the table.

They want to contribute.
To Serve. Learn. Change the World.

The future of volunteerism isn't something we're preparing for someday. It's already here, and it's asking us to build organizations where every generation has a voice and every perspective is valued.

Earlier in the day, Hannah Wojno from @GoodDeedsDay reinforced another important lesson: the strongest volunteer programs aren't built from a template. They're built by listening to communities, embracing local culture, and creating opportunities with people, not simply for them.

As we head home, we're leaving with more than pages of notes.

We're leaving with new friends from around the world, fresh ideas to bring back to our communities, and a renewed commitment to making it easier for people to discover purpose through service.

Thank you, Points of Light, for an unforgettable four days. Here's to the conversations that continue long after the conference ends.
