Vans full of supplies are headed to Grand Prairie, one of the hubs for northern Alberta wildfire relief efforts #ABWildfires #GiveWhereWeLive

Huge thanks to the TELUS team members, retirees and TELUS Community Ambassadors who worked to pack over 6,000 essential items like diapers and formula, toiletries, clothing, sanitary items and food to be distributed to facilities supporting an estimated 800+ evacuees who’ve fled their homes. We’ll continue to help the communities and teams impacted wherever we can.

We’ve come together with @TELUSHealth, @TELUS @FriendlyFuture Foundation, @TELUS_AGCG and the TELUS Indigenous Communities Fund to support relief efforts for the devastating wildfires in Alberta. Here’s how we’re providing the full breadth of our services:

💜 $5 million donated in cash and in-kind contributions.
💜 We @TELUS and our friends @Koodo are waiving domestic voice, text, and data overage fees for impacted customers.
💜 @TELUSHealth has opened its free community crisis hotline, available 24/7 to all Canadians. Dial 1-844-751-2133.
💜 @FriendlyFuture has activated its text-to-donate fundraising campaign. TELUS customers can text DONATE to 41010 to give $20 to support registered charities providing wildfire relief across the province.
💜 We’re in touch with evacuated Indigenous communities to understand their needs and supply necessities such as water, diapers and non-perishable food items.
💜 TELUS Community Ambassadors delivered disaster kits this weekend with essential items like bandages, USB car chargers and flashlights to support evacuees.
💜 Our technicians are working around the clock to maintain network connectivity to ensure Albertans stay connected.

Following the widespread power outages and severe weather conditions in parts of Quebec and Ontario, we’re offering our full support to those affected. Along with waiving data overage fees, providing emergency kits and donating $25,000 from TELUS @FriendlyFuture Foundation to local food banks, we’re also working around the clock to ensure everyone stays connected to their friends and family during this time of need. Generators have been deployed and we’re boosting coverage on select sites to minimize the impact to connectivity. Stay safe out there everyone.
