The UK has been a neoliberal economy that then spends enormous amounts trying to manage the social and economic harms it creates.
These two things are not incompatible.
I remember when Zack Polanski RT'd a person criticising the Police's excessive use of force.
He was publicly condemned by the MET Chief as if he had committed a serious crime.
Nigel Farage incites riots, AGAIN, and we have complete silence.
This is Nigel Farage at his worst and Keir Starmer at his best. The difference between darkness and light, night and day. Farage is a hate-mongering, mob-rousing monster who should be allowed nowhere near government.
@dave43law If Kenyon ends up appearing on QT I will be astonished. One way or another Reform will find a way of pulling him, even if it takes a note from his Mum.
Farage is humiliated by Starmer at #PMQs and shown to be not only a pathetic little racist but actually a danger to the UK.
Farage should be in prison for what he did yesterday.
So Mandelson was in talks with Farage, and told Labour comms not to say anything "disobliging".
But Farage obliged by recommending Mandelson as Ambassador.
Something about all this stinks
We're running out of some oil. Get used to it. By the end of summer, this will be commonplace, and rationing will be needed. A wise government would be reacting now, because without it, rationing will be by price, and the suffering of the lowest paid will be intolerable. https://t.co/ocIPsoyIO6
🚨 Thank goodness! Finally some pushback.
Commons committee says reliance on Palantir (and other US tech) is an “unacceptable point of weakness” for UK national security.
Time to trigger the break clause and build domestic alternatives.
The Atlanticist tech gamble is starting to meet real resistance.
Good point being made by contributor on @Skynews: It is wrong for the media to constantly refer to Henry Novak's killer as Sikh.
The killer was a murderer and should be referred to as such. Emphasising his religion in every report only incites anger towards the Sikh community.
On 2nd June 1975, Derbyshire's cricket match against Lancashire had to be postponed because of an inch (2.54cm) of snow on the pitch. Four days later, the same location (Buxton) was basking in hot weather. A very, very unusual snow event.
@barua_82 I'm not convinced it is always 'lying', I think a lot of people just 'believe' otherwise. The problem is, it is a matter of faith. How to combat that?
Nothing can be farther from the truth about MMT; these people, in the name of critiquing MMT, all do is lie about MMT!
1) "MMT frequently talks about funding govt with money-creation rather than taxation." _ Wrong. MMT explains how exactly the current system works; it doesn't tell how the government should be funded, and taxes ARE NOT the source of government finances.
2) "That is a normative policy proposal, not a positive description of what is currently done." Wrong, except for Job Guarantee. There are no policy proposals by #MMT.
remember like a month ago when zach polanski retweeted a member of the public's concerns about police conduct and all of politics came screeching to a halt for the day to condemn such a wholly inappropriate political interference into operational policing?
Two cheeks one arse.
A horrific pair of race baiting bigots.
Nasty Nige has crossed a major line today with his incitement and he should never be forgiven.
Remember today, and remember who he is when he shows us.
