The deaths of 28 students in a school roof collapse in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province are a tragic reminder of the urgent need for safe schools, accountability, and stronger safety standards to protect every child.

Very interesting and thought-provoking discussion with Dr. Dan Markey (@MarkeyDaniel) on U.S.–Pakistan relations, the China factor, and the risk of another India–Pakistan flare-up. Worth a listen if you’re trying to make sense of where U.S. policy toward Pakistan might actually be headed.

We went inside a secret school in Afghanistan, where more than 30 girls risk being arrested for gathering in the basement of a private home to continue their education under Taliban rule. As we were leaving, their teacher handed CBS New's @ImtiazTyab 21 letters the girls wrote by hand for us. They called them “Letters to the World.”
The girls poured their hopes, fears and dreams onto those pages, knowing they might never get the chance to share them with the outside world themselves. They wrote about the education they lost, the futures they still dream of and their simple wish to live freely as girls.
They trusted us to carry their voices beyond that basement. And we promised them we would.
These are their voices, in their own words.

I request @PMDC to reconsider its decision on Afghan students in medical colleges and universities on humanitarian grounds and civilizational relations between the peoples of the two countries. A more humane and practical approach can be to allow the students to complete their respective degrees and arrange their return to Afghanistan as soon as they complete their education @AmbassadorSadiq@ForeignOfficePk
