On the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, we honor the courage and resilience of Uyghur survivors who have endured unimaginable suffering in China's detention camps and prisons.

Torture is not only physical. It includes the psychological trauma inflicted through arbitrary detention, forced political indoctrination, threats against loved ones, humiliation, and the destruction of identity, language, culture, and faith. The forced separation of families, including mothers from their children, has caused profound emotional suffering and lasting psychological harm. The impact of these abuses often continues long after release, affecting survivors, their families, and entire community.

Today, we recognize the importance of rehabilitation and support for survivors of torture, including access to mental health services, justice, and safe spaces where they can rebuild their lives with dignity.

We pay tribute to the Uyghur camp survivors who, despite the crimes committed against them, have chosen to speak out, share their testimonies, and advocate for justice. Their courage has helped expose grave human rights violations and has given a voice to those who remain silenced.

As long as torture persists, the international community must continue to stand with survivors, demand accountability, and ensure that the suffering of victims is neither ignored nor forgotten.

Here one of many such incidents from India. A Bajrang Dal goon Ganesh Vanzara and his associates from Naroda, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, intimidating a Muslim migrant from Uttar Pradesh and ordering him to vacate his rented home in a predominantly Hindu locality. Those present can be seen cheering and celebrating the act.
The accused is himself proudly sharing this video on his Instagram account because he very well knows, Police will take no action against him. Home Minister @sanghaviharsh will not ask police to take action against the goons. Such acts of intimidation have become so normalized that even Media doesn't bother to highlight these incidents. Local Politicians don't want to comment on such issues as it will hurt their vote bank.
