Sonic the Hedgehog for the Commodore 64 was released on December 19, 2021, as a fan-made port by Andreas Varga (Mr. SID) to celebrate Sonic’s 30th anniversary. It’s a direct port of the Sega Master System 8-bit version, with 64 KB of code hand-translated from Z80 to 6502 architecture.

The game requires a Commodore 64 or 128 (in C64 mode) with a RAM Expansion Unit (REU) of at least 256 KB.

On Retrogames Ltd's TheC64 all you need to do is add the _R5 flag at the end of the filename to play it (ie; Sonic_The_Hedgehog_R5.d81). Another great reason to buy the plug and play TheC64!
