On this day in 1536, William Tyndale was executed for translating the Bible into English 🏴
Betrayed and arrested near Antwerp, he was condemned and burned at the stake. His last words were:
“Lord, open the King of England’s eyes.”
Tyndale gave his life to one great cause: putting the Word of God into the hands of ordinary Englishmen and women in their own tongue.
His translation laid the foundation for the English Bibles that followed, including the King James Version, which preserved a remarkable amount of his language.
Within only a few years of his death, Henry VIII authorised the English Bible to be read openly in every parish.
Tyndale’s prayer was answered.
He stands as one of the great martyrs of the English Reformation - a man who believed that Scripture belonged to the people, not to be hidden behind a clerical monopoly.
He famously declared that the ploughboy in the field should know more of Scripture than a priest who sought to keep it from him.
“The Word of God ought to be in the mother tongue… for the people to read and understand.” - William Tyndale 🏴
On this day, in 1536, William Tyndale was strangled and burned at the stake for translating the Scriptures into English for the common man. His final words, “Lord, open the King of England’s eyes.”
We’re on a road trip, and my 12 year old son brought his Bible.
I asked him if he read it everyday. He looked at me funny, like I’d asked if water was wet, and said “yes!”
He then proceeded to tell me he reads a chapter in the Old Testament and New Testament everyday. He’s finished 6 books so far.
This is a child who once asked us “who’s Jesus?” when he was 4 years old, because we weren’t saved then.
God works miracles.
Satan is not opposed to good morals.
He’s opposed to Jesus Christ.
Read that again because most Christians miss this completely.
Satan doesn’t care if you’re a “good person.” He doesn’t care if you volunteer at the food bank, recycle your trash, and help old ladies cross the street. He doesn’t care if you’re kind, generous, and well-liked by everyone in your community.
He cares that you don’t bow the knee to Jesus.
Here’s the deception that’s damning millions:
Satan has convinced people that morality equals spirituality. That being a “good person” is the same as being a Christian. That if you just live right, treat people well, and avoid the “big sins,” you’re acceptable to God.
This is a lie straight from the pit of hell.
The Pharisees had impeccable morals. They followed the law meticulously. They were respected, disciplined, and religiously devoted.
Jesus called them children of the devil.
Why? Not because their morals were bad. Because their morals replaced Christ.
Satan’s greatest trick isn’t making bad people worse. It’s making good people think they don’t need a Savior.
Think about it:
The atheist who feeds the homeless thinks he’s good enough without God.
The Buddhist who meditates and practices compassion thinks she’s enlightened without Christ.
The Muslim who prays five times daily thinks he’s righteous without Jesus.
The moral Christian who goes to church, pays his tithe, and avoids scandal thinks he’s saved without surrender.
All of them are headed to the same place: eternal separation from God.
Because morality doesn’t save. Jesus saves.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
Satan loves moral people who reject Jesus. They’re his best advertisement for the lie that you can earn your way to heaven.
They’re living proof that you can:
•Be kind without Christ
•Be generous without God
•Be disciplined without the Holy Spirit
•Be respected without redemption
And still be lost.
The most dangerous people in hell won’t be the murderers and rapists. They’ll be the moral, upstanding citizens who thought their goodness was good enough.
Their morals became their idol. Their goodness became their god.
And Satan smiled because he’d accomplished his goal: Keep them from Jesus.
Here’s what most Christians don’t understand:
Satan doesn’t need to make you do bad things. He just needs to keep you from doing the ONE thing that matters: surrendering to Christ.
If he can get you to:
•Trust your morals instead of Christ’s sacrifice
•Rely on your goodness instead of God’s grace
•Believe in your works instead of Jesus’ finished work
He’s won.
You can live a moral life and still die lost. You can be a good person and still face judgment. You can avoid all the “big sins” and still end up separated from God forever.
Because the only sin that damns you eternally is rejecting Jesus Christ.
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” John 3:36
Not the murderer who repents and believes in Christ is damned.
Not the thief who turns to Jesus on the cross is damned.
Not the prostitute who washes Jesus’ feet with her tears is damned.
The moral, religious person who rejects Christ is damned.
That’s why Satan loves morality without Jesus. It sends people to hell with a smile on their face, convinced they were good enough.
Stop trusting your morals. Start trusting Jesus.
Your goodness won’t save you. Your works won’t redeem you. Your morality won’t justify you.
Only the blood of Jesus Christ can wash away your sin and make you acceptable to a holy God.
Everything else is just Satan’s distraction from the one thing that actually matters.
I joined a church of England a prayer meeting beside my apartment at Darlaston 🇬🇧.
8 senior citizens (6 British, 1 Latino, 1 Austrian) and below are the prayer points:
- Thank God for summer that brightened our trees and blossomed the flowers that daily beautifies our sight. 😳 Do we even remember to thank God for rain or harmattan? (The NEXT ONE OFF ME)
- Prayers for plastic recyclers who strive to preserve God’s earth and the ecosystem 🤣 Like are you guys kidding?
- Prayer for the council cleaners who pack the excessive leaves and flowers falling off trees in summer, cause they now have more work to do….😳 Omo do we even remember those sweepers on the highway?
- Prayers for peacemakers and negotiators around conflict zones around the world……Like play - Like play 1 Hour was done.
I smiled all through the prayers - guess you already know why..As a preacher/revivalist from Nigeria?
ÓYÁ PE ORÚKO JÉSÙ LÉÈ MÉTA KÓ SÁN BÍ ÀRÁ…….
INA OLORUN (21 Times)
AGBARA EMI- MIMO O (219 times)
Yeah…….we love our prayers like that. 🔥💥❤️
Very energetic and charismatic.
The beauty is GOD HEARS EVERYONE..
But may God hear our prayer in Africa o and raise us capable leaders that can structure the kind of governance/order to even remember this kind of prayer points.
It’s always amazing everytime I criss-cross the nations and worship with multi-cultural audiences.
God bless those parishioners of St Lawrence Catholic Church Darlaston (Church of England)

And St. Seraphim of Sarov left the word that should be taped to the mirror:
“Acquire the Spirit of peace, and a thousand souls around you will be saved.”✌️
In the Egyptian Paterikon two elders lived together for years and never quarreled. One day one of them said:
“Brother, let us quarrel just once, the way all people do.”
The other answered: “I don’t know how a quarrel is made.”
“Look: we put a brick between us. I say, ‘It’s mine.’ You say, ‘No, it’s mine.’ That’s how a quarrel begins.”
They put the brick down.
The first said: “It’s mine.”
The second: “No, it’s mine.”
The first said: “If it’s yours, take it and go.”
And they could no longer quarrel.
This is the secret of peace: the one who yields.
The strongest does not win.
The one who no longer needs to be right wins.
Christ did not say, “Win the argument.”
He said: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” (Matthew 5:9)
The Apostle Paul is even clearer:
“Avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all.” (2 Timothy 2:23–24)
And St. Seraphim of Sarov left the word that should be taped to the mirror:
“Acquire the Spirit of peace, and a thousand souls around you will be saved.”
Not “win the argument.”
Not “teach him a lesson.”
Not “make sure he sees that you were right.”
Acquire peace.
St. John Climacus says something that stings and heals:
“If a bitter word arises between you and another and he denies it, do not provoke him. Let the word go, and great peace is made. For peace is four times greater than justice.”
Four times greater.
Not twice. Four.
Better to lose an argument than to lose your heart.
St. Isaac the Syrian adds:
“If you cannot be a peacemaker, at least be one who does not love disturbance.”
And: “Let yourself be wronged and do not wrong. Let yourself be slandered and do not slander.”
Peace does not mean you are weak.
Peace means you are so strong in Christ that you no longer need to defend yourself at every provocation.
In daily life the “brick” looks like this:
— the sharp message in the group chat
— the cutting remark at the table
— “just let me explain why you’re wrong”
— the need to have the last word
— the comment that “has to” be posted so injustice doesn’t hang in the air
Every time you feel that fire in the chest - “I have to answer” - remember the two elders.
One said: “If it’s yours, take it.”
Not because he had no right.
But because he had something more precious: peace.
“A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” (Proverbs 15:1)
“If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.” (Romans 12:18)
As much as depends on you.
Not as much as depends on the other.
Peace is not made by two people who are right.
It is made by one who is silent out of love.
Today, before you answer:
1. Ask yourself: do I want the truth, or do I want to win?
2. Remember that the devil loves a quarrel more than a mistake.
3. Say in secret: “Lord Jesus Christ, give me Your peace, not my being right.”
4. If you can, yield the brick.
5. If you cannot yet, be silent. Silence is also a form of victory.
The strongest person in the room is not the one who shouts.
It is the one who can say: “Take it. It isn’t worth losing my peace over a brick.”
The brick passes.
The quarrel stays in the heart.
Peace, once lost, is hard to regain.
Acquire peace.
Not because the world deserves it.
But because Christ deserves a clean place in you.
And perhaps, without your knowing, someone around you will be saved simply because you did not answer.
Lord, teach us to yield the brick - and keep heaven.
If this spoke to your heart, pass it on. Someone may be about to enter a quarrel they do not need.
HOW TO PRAY USING SCRIPTURES
Praying using scriptures is the perfect way to know you are praying the will of God. When you don't know how to pray, open the Bible and use the scriptures. Let your prayer requests be accompanied with scriptures. You can write them down before you enter the place of prayer and use them.
Many believers struggle in prayer because they think prayer is about finding the right words. But prayer is not about impressive words; it is about agreement with God's Word. The Bible says in Isaiah 55:11 that God's Word will not return to Him void. When you pray scriptures, you are reminding yourself of God's promises and standing on what He has already said concerning your life.
Praying scriptures strengthens your faith because faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Romans 10:17). Instead of praying based on your feelings, fears, or circumstances, you begin to pray based on God's truth. Circumstances may change, but God's Word remains forever.
For example, if you need wisdom, don't simply say, "Lord, give me wisdom." Take the scripture and pray it:
"Father, Your Word says in James 1:5 that if anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask of God who gives generously without finding fault. Lord, I ask for wisdom concerning this situation. Guide my decisions and direct my steps in Jesus' name."
If you are praying for provision, use Philippians 4:19:
"Father, Your Word says that You shall supply all my needs according to Your riches in glory by Christ Jesus. I stand upon this promise today. I declare that every need in my life shall be met according to Your Word."
If you are battling fear, use Isaiah 41:10:
"Lord, You said I should not fear because You are with me. You said You will strengthen me, help me, and uphold me with Your righteous right hand. Today I reject fear and embrace Your peace."
If you need healing, pray with Isaiah 53:5:
"Father, Your Word says that by His stripes we are healed. I receive healing over my body. Let every sickness, pain, and affliction leave in the name of Jesus."
If you desire protection, use Psalm 91:
"Lord, Your Word says that He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Protect me and my family from every evil attack, danger, and accident."
If you are trusting God for direction, pray Proverbs 3:5-6:
"Father, I choose to trust in You with all my heart and not lean on my own understanding. As I acknowledge You in all my ways, direct my paths according to Your promise."
If you need strength during difficult times, pray Isaiah 40:31:
"Lord, Your Word says those who wait upon You shall renew their strength. Renew my strength today. Help me to run and not grow weary, to walk and not faint."
Even when praying for your children, marriage, ministry, business, or future, find scriptures that relate to those areas and turn them into prayer points. The more you pray God's Word, the more confidence you have in prayer because you know you are praying according to His will.
A practical way to do this is to keep a prayer journal. Divide it into categories such as healing, protection, finances, family, spiritual growth, favor, and breakthrough. Under each category, write relevant scriptures. Whenever you pray, read the scripture first and then turn it into a personal prayer.
Jesus Himself used scripture. The apostles used scripture. The early church stood upon scripture. God's Word is the foundation of effective prayer.
The next time you enter your prayer closet and don't know what to say, don't be discouraged. Open your Bible. Read a promise. Speak it back to God. Pray His Word. Declare His Word. Stand upon His Word.
Remember, prayers based on God's Word carry confidence because they are rooted in God's promises. When you pray scriptures, you are not merely expressing your desires; you are agreeing with what God has already spoken.
Pray the Word, believe the Word, and watch God fulfill His Word in your life.
A Japanese teacher creates a new piece of artwork for his students every day, only to erase it once the school day ends.
Hirotaka Hamasaki, a high school art teacher in Nara, Japan, creates elaborate chalk masterpieces on his classroom blackboard. Using colored chalk, he recreates iconic Western paintings and popular anime scenes, giving his students a new surprise each morning.
His highly detailed drawings can take hours to complete, but they are never meant to last. At the end of each school day, Hamasaki erases the artwork, using its temporary nature to teach his students about appreciating the present moment and finding beauty in things that don’t last.
I just read the most beautiful true life story ever! There was a train station in Japan that ran just for one girl, the Kami Shirataki station. It was supposed to shut down due to low use, until Japan rail station found out she uses it everyday to get to school. Instead of closing it, they changed the train schedule to match her school hours. The train stops only twice a day, once to pick her up in the morning and once to bring her back in the evening. No other passengers, no extra stops, just for her. When she graduated in 2016, the station quietly shut down. What a country!🥹❤️👏🏽

I saw in the news today that actress Hayden Panettiere had suddenly passed away—she would’ve celebrated her 37th birthday on Friday. So much seemingly ahead of her, and then life abruptly comes to an end. This is a reminder that death is coming for all of us. Many people think death is the end, but it’s not—it is the beginning of eternity! And there are only two places where we can spend eternity—either in Hell separated from God, or in Heaven in the presence of God. To go to Heaven we must accept God’s Son, Jesus Christ, by faith and trust Him as Savior. I hope Hayden had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I know that her family would appreciate our prayers during this difficult time. https://t.co/r74tLKOpCh
Five reasons to study the Word:

3. It convicts you of sin.
4. It keeps you from false, destructive teachings.
