Kiddo got the teamwork award for her summer college program. 5th of 8 kids, first one to consider college, and she just a sophomore is HS. #LookWhatIMade
Your walking speed after 80 might protect your brain more than crossword puzzles ever could.
Researchers followed nearly 4,000 older adults and found something striking:
The fastest walkers in their 80s—called “super movers”—were about 50% less likely to develop cognitive decline than their slower peers.
These weren’t elite athletes. They simply walked significantly faster than others their age (top 9%).
And they preserved more hippocampal volume—the brain’s memory hub—even when some still showed Alzheimer’s-related plaques.
Why does this matter? Walking pulls on muscle, balance, heart, lungs, and nerves at once.
Contracting muscle releases BDNF, a key protein that supports neuron survival and brain growth.
In short: muscle health is cognitive health.
Genetics play a role, but lifestyle still matters. Nearly half of dementia cases are linked to modifiable factors.
Limitations of study: Observational and focused on a relatively healthy older cohort.
The practical takeaway is simple:
Keep moving at a pace that challenges you. Consistency beats intensity. And don't forget to strength train too.
What’s one movement habit you’re building this week to protect both body and brain?

Speaking of GLP1s, if you're having the side effect of loose skin, there are some affordable, non-invasive ways to tighten and tone. This one is my current favorites!
Positive anecdotes on a vast array of health benefits are widespread, and side effects are virtually non-existant with proper diet, exercise and hydration. Not sure why we're shaming such an amazing health modality.
GLP-1's do NOT cause muscle loss... at least not directly
Despite the rhetoric on social media from wellness influencers, GLP-1's are not catabolic
Yes, if you lose weight with GLP-1's and do not exercise, you will lose lean mass...
But it is no more than the amount of lean mass that is lost by people who lose weight without GLP-1s & don't exercise
This is awesome! When I did myofascial release, she told me to use a lacrosse ball to hit the psoas area. That demonstration is super helpful for how to do it, and that ball looks like it's effective😊
If you’ve found yourself simply stretching to “loosen up” or address a tight or sore area, I’ve got news for you: stretching alone really doesn’t work.
Using the simple tools and even more advanced “biohacks” in my new mobility video will completely reinvent your experience with mobility, and you’ll kiss simple stretching goodbye forever once you see the results that you get when you “stretch like me”.

This is your muscle at 25 vs. 55.
On the left: dense, healthy tissue.
On the right: muscle marbled with fat like a ribeye steak.
It's called myosteatosis, and if you're not lifting heavy and you're carrying extra fat, it's already happening to you.
Antioxidants have a pretty good reputation. However, I did not know that some of them briefly become reactive molecules themselves once they have neutralized another free radical, which melatonin does not. Instead, it creates an antioxidant cascade. Wow!
Melatonin affects a number of hallmarks of aging. It is a powerful antioxidant, that is, it neutralizes cell and DNA-damaging “free radical” compounds, and unlike other well-known antioxidants like vitamin C and E, it doesn’t generate any pro-oxidant molecules in the process.
Did you know potato chips used to come in cardboard boxes? Then in the 1950s Du Pont ran full page ads convincing America they needed cellophane instead, "you can see it, so you know it's fresh."
That same company later became infamous for something far less transparent, decades of lawsuits over the forever chemicals it dumped into drinking water and used in food packaging.
We went from cardboard to plastic in the name of "freshness." Now we know plastic packaging leaches microplastics and endocrine disrupting chemicals straight into the food it's "protecting."
Progress doesn't always mean safer. Sometimes it just means better marketing.

@ChrisPalmerMD Could it be a practical matter about meds? I use a mood stabilizer that's for life and an AUD med that's 6-12 months, because I can change behaviors and triggers for that, but my underlying brain chemistry doesn't change for mood. 🤔
Can One Peptide Reduce Visceral Fat and Promote Longevity? 🧵
1/5) Tesamorelin is a peptide shown in randomized controlled human trials to reduce visceral fat by ~20%.
But that may be one of its least interesting effects.
Stick around to the end for the big reveal…
I tried myofascial release on my jaw, and wow... there were definitely a few moments where I questioned my life choices.
Anyone else had this done? Did it help with TMJ, headaches, neck tension, or just everyday stress? I'm genuinely curious what your experience was.
