Today @parkrunUK we pushed our goal doing an additional lap to run our furthest together yet as we prepare for our half marathon relay ❤️🏃🏻♀️We will be running the Amazing Northampton Run to raise funds for @NHCFGreenHeart who provide support to our staff & patients @NGHnhstrust ❤️
Back in the day, ultra marathoners had to rely on a map and compass as they endeavoured not to add extra miles on to their runs.
Now, those at our events have trackers that tell them where to go & enable volunteers to keep an eye on those who get lost!

It takes a village to raise a child - and it takes a village full of volunteers to help organise and run a race.
Luckily we have just that when it comes to putting on our Amazing Northampton Run.
Today, we look at some of those involved…

Alice Bateman writes about completing her first ultra at @GoBeyondSport Shires & Spires Ultra. She writes about her training, nutrition and that particular friendship you make with strangers on the trail.

Missed out on the London Marathon?
Who wants to run through a busy capital city with half the world tripping you up anyway!
Why not enter out Beat the Sunset 5k or The Amazing Northampton Run half-marathon instead...
Or do both for less than London! 😉

It was great to see so many strong, inspirational women at our Shires & Spires event.
The imbalance between male & female participants is something which remains sadly all too prevalent.
Here, we look at how women set new standards at Shires & Spires:

The Amazing Northampton Run returns in September.
It’s an event that seeks to celebrate all things good about the town, including our history and heritage.
We’d love to see you there! 🏃 🏃♀️

History and heritage on The Amazing Northampton Run:
On Abington Street are some particularly brutalist buildings, where someone decided to demolish the spectacular Notre Dame convent school in the 1970s to build shops.
All that remains of the school is a small cemetery...

What does it feel like to finish a 123-mile ultra?
"It was a trip to a very happy place, having been through some pretty shitty ones.”
Our Capital to Country Ultra sent Owen Jones to some challenging places - and one of the best moments of his life.

@Nsport's ethos is to promote sport for all - and chief exec, Chris Holmes, proved just what's possible when he won our Shires & Spires Marathon on Sunday.
Victory came despite the slight reservations of Mrs H... who was shocked to see him lead the field home!
Congrats Chris!
Zoe’s podium finish was mirrored by Amy Sarkies. We were honoured to have England and GB 100k runner Amy taking part and making sure the men didn’t have it all their own way.
Well done to all the ladies who took part on Sunday - see you again soon!
Let's talk GIRL POWER!
It was great to see so many strong, inspirational women at Shires & Spires.
The imbalance between male and female runners at events remains all too prevalent.
We've partnered with @she_races to promote women's running, but there's still work to be done.
Zoe, the winner of the women’s half-marathon, even broke her own course record to finish in a staggering 1:36:42.
We spoke to her after the event to ask why she keeps coming back to compete in Shires & Spires - you can watch her interview on YouTube: https://t.co/jsB8PsQsKs
