Here's a checklist of the first 15 things you need to do when launching a new SEO campaign:

1. Run a Screaming Frog crawl of the website
2. Add canonical tags to all paginated and archive pages that point to the "root" page
3. Fix all 404 errors
4. Fix all broken backlinks
5. Ensure all pages have an H1 tag
6. Audit the website loading speed and make changes to improve it
7. Ensure schema markup is enabled
8. Audit the blog — remove any duplicate/poor-preforming content and identify target keywords for content that's performing well so you can better optimize the page for the keyword and help it perform even better
9. Audit the website architecture as a whole — ensure pages aren't nested more than three folders deep and that URL slugs are optimized for UX
10. Identify target keywords for Product and/or Product Category pages
11. Add the target keyword to the Product and/or Product Category pages H1 tag, meta title, meta description, and URL slug
12. Add Product Category pages with target keywords to the website's main navigation menu
13. Identify existing content with backlinks, edit them, and include internal links to relevant Product and/or Product Category pages with a target keyword
14. Identify keywords for a content strategy that supports the Product and/or Product Category pages that you identified target keywords for
15. Audit the backlink profile and make note of unhealthy link distributions and over-optimized anchor text
Just by completing these 15 steps, you should see a bump in your brand's keyword rankings.
And you'll have a solid base to continue your SEO efforts on.
