No it's not double dipping. What we want and are actually well entitled to, is the SS we earned and paid into BEFORE (or after) working for a job that didn't allow us to contribute to SS because we contributed to our pension. We don't want any SS for the years we worked for a pension since we werent' allowed to pay into SS. We want the SS we earned while NOT in a govt job. We just want what we worked for and earned--nothing more. And I know it's confusing. Everything govt does is confusing. State jobs can be called govt jobs. My sister worked for a state govt job and she contributed to SS while there (because they allowed her to) and also contributed to a pension and she got both. Sorry hope I didn't confuse you more. Basically: this bill will remove WEP which stops people like my husband from collecting the SS he paid into.

All 100 Senators showed up for the procedural vote on the Social Security Fairness Act. This is the first time in 8 months all 100 have shown up. The momentum to repeal WEP & GPO and get the Social Security Fairness Act over the finish line is on our side!
@SenTedCruz today is the full vote in the Senate to pass the Social Security Fairness act which will give Police, Fire and Teachers the 67% of their Soc Sec which they earned and paid in.
We will remember your vote when you want to be reelected and need our help.
Senator Tim Scott’s response to my request for support of #HR82 :
“Millions of retirees rely on Social Security for their living expenses. We must ensure that any changes allow seniors to continue receiving the benefits promised after years of hard work.”

The Senate is set to vote on the Social Security Fairness Act—critical legislation to repeal WEP & GPO penalties that unfairly reduce benefits for teachers, firefighters, and public servants. It’s time to deliver fairness to those who serve our communities. No Amendments. Yes or No Vote. #SocialSecurityFairnessAct #RepealWEPGPO_2024

@VotersSpeak@LeaderMcConnell@SenRandPaul@SenateFinance@SenateGOP@RepealWEP_GPO In regard to the 47 law enforcement officers feloniously killed in the line of duty by 8/2024. And the 53 Firefighters killed as of 11/2024. Do you think the Senate will have enough respect and admiration to honor them with the repealing of the injustice of WEP/GPO. WWJD !
