"Former president Donald Trump’s false claims that the 2020 election was stolen have stoked discontent among many Americans and driven the Republican party to impose the changes."

"Black women in particular helped to organize and turn out record numbers of voters in November, many of whom stood in long lines at risk to their public health to participate in the 2020 election."

Black Americans of voting age are more than four times as likely to lose their voting rights than the rest of the adult population.
This is a positive step, and a win for American democracy and for voting rights.

Register2Vote delivered 375,000 applications and sent nearly 200,000 texts to unregistered voters across the state in 2020.
So proud to have played a small part, supporting this vital work in Georgia. The more voices we uplift, the better our democracy!

Texas won't properly fund elections.
Counties started fundraising to make up the gap — now Texas wants to stop that.
Another day, another vote suppression tactic! We need #HR1, stat.
Texas House just initially approved HB2283 to prohibit donations of more than $1000 to run elections.
Last year, some counties took private $ to help cover costs of a pandemic election w/ extended early voting period & new safety measures like face shields for workers. #txlege
These companies are speaking out because they know that voter suppression is bad for business.
They’re speaking out because they represent hundreds of workers who are Black and brown voters who are saying this is making their life harder. https://t.co/tqmoMLlTmh
Today the R2V team co-hosted a Get Out the Vote rally with the Grand Prairie NAACP.
Important issues on the May 1 ballot in Grand Prairie include a $75m bond measure & making sure it benefits the local community.
After meeting up we hit the streets — some for the first time!
Which makes now a great time to mention that people across the US can visit https://t.co/5b7PySy3zR to be mailed a free, pre-filled application to register to vote. Simply sign and return.

Our ED @JulieOliverTX testified against efforts to ramp up vote suppression in Texas.
For Texans with disabilities, for workers who can't vote until late at night, #HB6 and #SB7 are a sign of contempt — that our voices don't matter.
We deserve better, Texas. Keep fighting!
A special good morning to everyone who testified at the Texas capitol to protect voting rights & stop #HB6.
The hearing went from Thurs AM until 5am today!
It shouldn’t be this hard to make your voice heard. And we should be making it easier—not harder—to cast your vote.
