We support grassroots astronomy in the UK, helping people find stargazing events, astronomy groups, dark sky sites and stargazing-friendly places to stay.
If you have a few minutes and clear skies tonight, please join in the 100 Hours Online event. Complete four simple stargazing challenges to unlock badges and place your pin on the location map. Thanks, and clear skies! https://t.co/DybP9Djep1
BRIGHT COMET ALERT THIS MONTH! Our photo of Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, observed 14/10/24, may be similar to the view of Comet A6 Lemmon which has brightened in recent days. Astronomers predict it will become visible naked-eye around 20/10/25. Clear skies! #Astronomy#stargazing
@SabrinaGal182 Astronomers call this "a new Moon" and it happens every calendar month, sometimes twice during a month. That's all that's special about it, although with no Moon at night it means the skies are dark and a great time to go stargazing! #blackmoon#blackmoonnonsense
Perseid meteor sneaking in to the picture last night. A very bright moonlit landscape in the @yorkshire_dales International Dark Sky Reserve #Swaledale

There are many things this ‘could’ be, one of which is a giant space turd shat, intentionally or otherwise, towards the solar system from what passes for the arse of a sentient molecular cloud. My money, however, is on a lump of ice and rock.
Keep your eyes peeled for noctilucent "night-shining" clouds over the coming evenings and early mornings. The electric-blue wispy clouds appear towards the northern horizon approximately an hour after sunset and an hour before sunrise. 23:00 BST and 02:30 BST are ideal times.
Run a visitor business in or near the Howardian Hills, North Yorkshire? Here's a great chance to learn more astro tourism with a free event on 27 August @ Yorkshire Arboretum. Pix Chris Lowther https://t.co/G06bzPzdGn @NorthYorkMoors@GoStargazing@Welcome2Yorks@VisitRyedale

Ahh space… bit of a waste of time isn’t it? I mean, it looks cool, love the pics, but honestly, what’s the point?
It’s not making my life easier, right?
… sure about that? 😜 My @TEDx talk is finally in the wild!
Enjoy 🥳 @esa@NASA_Johnson@ESO
