@ecpps principals are volunteering their time at the food bank this morning to pack emergency food boxes for students during the school closure. Shoutout to Mrs. Cobb, Mrs. White, Mr. Fonville, Mrs. Moore, and Mr. Drew, as well as some of their many staff members!
Students at ECMS and PCHS practiced the design process by building chariots for their spheros. Next time they will program their sphero to carry water through an obstacle course. #gostemecpps#stem
A few things I learned as a principal:
▶️ Never going to please everyone.
▶️ Suspension doesn’t change behavior.
▶️ Parents are sending the best they got.
▶️ 90% of your challenges come from 10% of the people.
▶️ NOTHING replaces a solid teacher.
3rd gr. students at Sheep Harney made their own prototypes to listen to a heartbeat. They tested different designs + reflected on what changes they might need to make. Great job Eagles!! Thank you to Mrs. Fran Worthington and Ms. Walton for allowing the collaboration to occur!!
Students worked on learning coding today by coding their spheros to play “golf” and trying to get the lowest scores. Each coding retry counted as a shot. Students will soon use spheros and coding to create and engineer the solutions to different problems. @ecpps#gostemecpps
We tested our ocean cleaners today @stjcatholic. This student-designed device, inspired by the Interceptor, caught 122 pieces of debris in our simulation of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. @bhncdsbSTEM@TheOceanCleanup
Entrepreneurship students at PCHS are finishing up their Shark Tank projects for Mrs. Wiggins-Williams. They made a website for their business and brainstormed the prototypes they will present to the sharks on Thursday! Good luck future entrepreneurs!
Go STEM was at PCHS for flextime today. Students choose btwn many different activities or participate in intervention. Today we learned the sci behind slime and how to code Sphero robots to complete a challenge. Thanks to Ms. Driver, media coordinator for collaborating!!
NHS has some amazing staff members who jumped right in and rocked some STEM activities. Teachers used their PLC time to collaborate and brainstorm ways to implement STEM into their content areas. Thank you to NHS for such an awesome day of learning!
Freshman seminar time at the Early College was used as a mini STEM career fair today. Students were introduced to the careers of mechanical engineer, marine biologist, patient care tech, and IT director. Thank you to all of our STEM professionals who came to share their time!!
