Once, when I was complaining about how no one in my house goes to sleep before 2 a.m., @SarahMaslinNir surprised me with a gift: the @GoTheFtoSleep book.
Now I’m going to have to add another children’s book to my, ahem, stable.
Authors! Illustrators! Publishers! Librarians! GENTLE READERS! Anyone with an affection, love, or need for books… please help spread this word how LIBRARIES should never be sacrificed for the gluttonous budgets of police departments.
In fact, the inverse would make us safer.
At #PENTownHall, @rgay called for progress so "the next generation of writers, especially Black writers and writers of color in general, don’t have to sit on these panels and talk about #diversity, when we would probably rather be talking about our craft.” https://t.co/aJydLtXqno
The thing about taking care of a baby who refuses to sleep all night is, you get to the morning and are like “yesss it’s morning! we survived the night! we made it!”
…and then you remember that you have to take care of said baby during the day, too.
Vivat is the second largest publishing house in Ukraine with approximately 3,000 titles in print. Despite its hometown of Kharkiv having been under constant bombardment from Russia and much of the city destroyed, the company is trying to continue its work.
#StandWithUkraine
In some incredible and absolutely humbling news, our Ukrainian publisher Vivat, together with the book's translator Sergiy Zhadan, presented GTFTS to Ukrainians from one of Kharkiv’s bomb shelters.

While working on the text, the Zhadan was inspired and created a song, which he performed for the first time with his friends - the Kharkiv group "Selo i Liudy."
A rocket fell nearby just a few hours before the performance, but the show went ON.
6yo: I don't want to go to bed.
Me: You never want to go to bed.
6yo: Why would I ever want to go to bed.
Me: No. I'm saying that you saying that is not an effective argument against bed.
6yo: I don't NEED a... mer-rect-ive... argument to not go to bed. IT'S BED.
Me: ... better.
We’re also enamored with MWB, and humbled to be mentioned in this fascinating article on her.
Also confounded how “GO THE FUCK TO SLEEP [does not] come close to achieving the surreal quality of GOODNIGHT MOON” made it past the notoriously rigorous @NewYorker fact-checkers 😂
I've been obsessed with the writer Margaret Wise Brown for years, one of the most creative, iconoclastic women of the early 20th century. Writing and reporting this piece for @newyorker about her short, dramatic life only made me more so.
