Found some owl pellets on a nature walk with a class. The teacher took them back to dissect and found plenty of bones! I’m intrigued by the big one in the middle. Any ideas what it might be from? (I’ve asked for more photos with a ruler for scale). @GraemeBWilson@Skull_Bloke
Some interesting fungi from the last week or so. Sarcoscypha coccinea, Hypoxylon fragiforme, Exidia thuretiana and fruiting Chlorociboria aeruginascens. #britishfungi@BritMycolSoc#everydayisaschoolday
Bird feeders, den building, fairy houses and nestboxes. Just some of the activities we’ve had this week @MauldsheughWood . Can’t think of a better way to spend the February half-term!
Getting ready for #nationalnestboxweek and building nestboxes with children from Hawick primary schools today. They all did brilliantly and we’ll be taking them down to the local woodland at Hornshole to install them after the February holiday. @Birding_Borders@RSPBScotland
Another great outdoor learning session @Clovenfords_ps this afternoon. Nestboxes installed, hedgehog habitat piles started and one of our pupils found a lovely, wiggly worm! #outdoorlearning#natureeducation
