@sitaradawn Let's say a wife buys her husband a piece of jewelry because he said he liked it, that’s a simple definition of "spoiled" that isn't negligence at all; however, an iPad kid or a child who is habitually given whatever they want? that's negligence.
@sitaradawn Which is, by definition, being neglectful.
Being "spoiled" isn't a real term for mental health professionals, its something that average people labeled to this action becuase ignorance.
@Bridgetzuniga3@The_MightyMogar Alastor isn't just "evil for fun" like Adam, he has a whole nuanced evil ambition driving him to achieve his goals, and part of his past reveals he suffered from racism, something that makes you sympathize with him. Adam is just a stock villain with a loser trait.
@sin_BINch@samosadnaa29355 If you want him to have sense, it's not about "nobody likes him? It always had sense!" It's about the other realistic implications, why he has a shitty personality? One isn't born and made like that by themselves without a system supporting it. They are sugarcoating the angels.
@sin_BINch@samosadnaa29355 There isn't any interesting implication in this angle, he is not a character that matters as a person, if they do something it's to point his loser trait, basically slander
Hazbin Hotel fandom has a big issue with lacking constructive criticism, being a fan is not being a glazer
@The_MightyMogar@Bridgetzuniga3 Yeah, but Vivziepop interpretation of Adam is bad writed because he is a strawman, some people aren't getting mad because he is evil, some people get mad because the show is insulting to intelligence with him. If you aren't a comformist in mind, of course you will get mad.
@sin_BINch It’s not about the fact that he’s a shit and that this justifies no one liking him, it’s about the intention behind why they portray him that way: slander. Even if it’s tragic, it’s still a way to show how pathetic he is, not to flesh him out like Lute.
@JennyaYovv In a big view, Adam had it worse than Lute because at least the story cares about Lute as a complex character with an arc, Adam is just used for his leaders to look good and be this jerk that nobody likes.
@Aishishii I would say all this "Adam is at fault for his leaders" was established since Charlie's intro in ep1, because they made Sera look sad while Adam looks happy, their biggest mistake was to make those scenes in the trial where he shows to be submissive to Sera. He was neglected.
@boo_olivia_boo The guy was there 10,000 years since newborn and they forgot and didn't care, VERY easily. They didn't cared about his person they cared only about his tittle as commander. I mean, the show makes it clear as water that he is just a scapegoat for his leaders. That's his role.
@ElPengwynn This is one of the main debates about adaptations: when does it stop being an adaptation if you don't respect the core principles of what you are trying to adapt? Portraying Adam as a misogynisic bastard villain for Lilith while using Bible bases is stupid.
@ankh_morpork_IV@ElPengwynn Lilith is obviously going to be complex, and Adam is going to be used as her scapegoat. The point is the narrative hypocrisy based on bias.
@ankh_morpork_IV@ElPengwynn These aren't even respectful interpretations; they're interpretations that shape people's perception of the original product, ultimately negatively impacting the original product and its characteristics.
