It was indeed a great honour to meet with Her Excellency. Partnership and collective effort with government leadership is key to ensuring that everyone everywhere has access to water and sanitation. Wateraid looks forward to enhancing our partnership with the Government of Ghana.

I received WaterAid Ghana, an organization that has been operating in the country for the past 40 years. Our discussions centered on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), with WaterAid expressing their goal of universal water for improved public health.

I welcomed the delegation and commended WaterAid Ghana for their consistent efforts over the years. I also raised concerns about recent incidents of water pollution, stressing that Government is actively taking steps to find lasting solutions.

Ensuring our water is safe and clean requires a collective effort, including revisiting and scaling up the preservation interventions that have proven effective. We need mutually beneficial partnerships that take charge of issues head-on rather than circling around them without resolution.

Finally, I encouraged WaterAid Ghana to amplify their advocacy on the international stage to highlight the environmental injustices facing Africa in terms of access to safe water and sanitation.
